Have you not read any of Ken's clarifications on this issue?  If a film is made in France, French links can apply to every single profile for that title.  R1 sites, however, can only be applied to the specific R1 release.  Why would he tell us to do it that way?  Because sites from the films country of origin will always apply to that film.

You're changing subject. US movies, dubbed in German, so no word of English in this movie, so no English links there, no English Trailers, ... (could replace German by French or Dutch or Spanish, or Italian ....)

Quote:
Let me ask you something.  You are in Germany.  Do you add a link to the German rating sites for R1 profiles of R1 films ('Title and Production Year) or do you only add them to German releases ('This Profile Only)?

No I Live in Belgium, we don't have Ratings here, The Dutch (Netherlands Ratings are on the DVD's)

As for my having a clue what Ken wants, I never said I did.  I said I doubted he meant it the way you are doing it...and I still do as your way makes no sense...but I will make an attempt to find out.

So from your point of view I have to remove all my links for the DVD Profiler Online Project as I don't have any R1 releases. Ken will be very happy, all English links to be removed from non English localities for English titles in the Database. I Can't put them localy can I?

And all R1 users have to move all English links to the local part of the Profiler Links as they come through in the none US profiles for that title?

Quoting Link Guidelines:
Quote:
  • For links which match the locality of the original content, submit via Title/Production Year. For others, submit via "This Profile Only"

  • And as Rating Guidelines based on rated or unrated Movies both match the "locality of the original content" criterium they could show rating guidelines for unrated movies.

That isn't what Ken, or the Link Guidelines say.  They say:

"For links which match the locality of the original content, submit via Title/Production Year. For others, submit via "This Profile Only""

That means, even if the film has no words of English in it, if the original locality is English then English links are allowed.

My bad.  I saw red, yellow and black and thought German flag.

If you are submitting non-R1 links, via the "Title/Production Year" option, for R1 films then you are doing it wrong.  As I pointed out above, links that do not match the locality of the original content have to be submitted via the "This Profile Only" option.

So, if that is what you are doing, yes they have to be changed from one to the other.  I gathered from another thread that surfeur51 has already started doing this with the links he submitted.

Not if it is an R1 film...something tells me you haven't read the Link Guidelines.

Again, what is gained by linking to a rating that does not apply to that DVD release?

I think Giga already explained that. It provides info about the other release from the same locality.

Yes, that is what it does, but to what end?  Every link provides some information about other releases.  Should we link them all to every profile?  I am sorry, it still doesn't make any sense to me.

Ratings guideline sites follow the general rules for all sites - link specific localities by UPC/Locality.  If the link matches the locality of the original production, link by title/production year.

Although there will be discrepancies, the rating guideline site will generally have useful information.

Example: German release of French film.  Link a German ratings guide by UPC/Locality.  Link a French ratings guide by Title/Prod Year.  Same goes for trailers, fan sites, and all other link types.
