To avoid any confusion:
- When you use the internal functions in DVD Profiler to read the ID of DVDs, you should always have AnyDVD running.
- When you use Add by DVD Disc ID or DiscIDCheck, you should never have AnyDVD (or any other "on-the-fly" decryption software) running.
Same with dvdid.exe (two different programs with the same name). Always disable AnyDVD before running them!

Now it works! It's funny - there's only one choice in the pull-down menu. For me, that's drive letter F:.

You're right. There's a vertical bar that splits the number in two parts. If you just disregard that, the number sequence should be correct.
You can also try this program with the same name (dvdid.exe):

If you have AnyDVD installed and running, you should be good to go, and the DVD IDs read by the internal tools in DVD Profiler should be correct. A good practice might be to make a note in your contribution that "The Disc ID has been read with AnyDVD active" so that the reviewers will know that you're aware of the problem. (For Blu-rays it doesn't matter, only for DVDs.)
Since Redfox has mysteriously vanished from the net, you can't buy a new license for AnyDVD, but GreyHulk has graciously volunteered to provide an old version of AnyDVD if you ask him:

If you don't own AnyDVD, or don't want to use it, you could try to install the plugin Add by DVD Disc ID:

7.6.9.2 is a pretty old version of AnyDVD. That's really strange. AnyDVD has always worked for me to correct the DVD IDs in Windows 10. Which version(s) of AnyDVD have you been using? Some very old ones may not have implemented the code to correct the DVD IDs.

I agree that it does work in many cases, but it may be a little cumbersome. Normally, you would want your DVDs filed under their UPC/EAN-codes, not under their Disc IDs. And in many cases, you would want to add the Disc ID to an existing profile.
In those cases you would have to use the plug-in to create a new "dummy" profile in the database, copy the Disc ID to your proper profile, and then delete the dummy one.
However, what to do if there are more than one disc in your DVD set, for example a main feature and bonus materials on separate discs? I haven't found any way to enter the IDs of more than one disc. Yes. Aside from its cost, Passkey would be a good replacement for AnyDVD if you're only interested in its region free and decryption abilities. But it would be of no use for correcting the DVD IDs if you're a user of DVD Profiler.

Hmmm, I can't replicate your findings. On my system I get the same disc-id regardless of Decryptor software. It seems pretty consistent here.
The problem is with DVD's, not Blu-rays. Blu-rays will always render the same Disc-ID, no matter which Windows-version or decryptor software.

Redfox, the maker of AnyDVD, simply vanished without a trace last month. That means that AnyDVD will no longer be updated. If you only need it for correcting the Disc ID in DVD Profiler, that may not be a big issue. But if you use it for its intended purpose - playing discs from any region, or other functions that rely on its decryption engine, you may want some other software that's being updated to cope with the latest discs.
So is there a replacement for AnyDVD? Sort of - but they don't seem to work with DVD Profiler.
Xreveal looked promising. In its Status window, it displays the correct DVDID, both as old and new versions of Windows see it:
