| Posted: | | | | Several DVDs are re-released with the same UPC but different covers (some with the same discs even)..everyone keeps submitting new contributions because their dvd cover doesn't match ther downloaded one...there should be a way to differentiate between the original release cover and the re-release cover. |

| Posted: | | | | A multiple covers option is something that's been requested a couple of time. Not just for re-release art, but to allow us to capture both the slipcover and inner covers (for the times they are different). I'd like to see it implemented one day. |

I'm sorry guys, I just don't see this, I understand why you want it and everything else. the question is twofold, on how much will this inflate the Online and most impotantly does it concern Ken. This is not that far removed from those users who want to be able to display THEIR own Cover Art Online. The Online is never going to be a comprehensive resource nor is that its purpose. It is HERE in the Layout Forum... but note if you want to use it... don't use my original code.... it was greatly improved upon by xyrano about half way down the first page. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I knew there had to be a thread on this already! (There's also this lonely thread.) I've been getting this issue a lot lately...and it's not just alternate cover art, but alternate video formats and disc contents. I bought or received 5 DVDs today and all of them have alternate versions: About Last Night... - This has been released in both Widescreen+P&S or just P&S. I hunted down a copy of the Widescreen+P&S version which shares the same UPC. The current Invelos version has the re-release cover for the P&S-only version. So if I contribute my original cover, it will remove the new cover for everyone else. No Mercy - I didn't realize there was a Widescreen+P&S version and I mistakenly purchased the P&S re-release. I hunted down a widescreen+P&S copy, but they share the same UPC. The Graduate - I have the Best Buy version which has a 3rd disc of the Simon & Garfunkel Concert in Central Park. It's cool that there's a profile for the concert that's available; however, there's no way to note that in the main profile since that UPC is also used by retailers that didn't include the Best Buy exclusive disc. So if you download the main profile, there's nothing to alert you to the presence of the Best Buy disc. Edward Scissorhands - My copy has a different slip cover than any in the database. The Deep - Once again, a widescreen+P&S that's been re-released as P&S only. I have some releases which are widescreen-only when the original release is widescreen+P&S...so those covers don't match either. Others have been stripped of bonus features. Yes, I can do my own covers and modify the profiles to match my actual discs; however, I wish there were a way to store alternate versions UPCs so that users would have a choice between different cover art and different video formats as well as noting store exclusives which use the same UPC, etc. Not only would it make collecting easier, it would help with purchase decisions. It seems to me that if we have the resources available to store disc-level profiles of TV sets, we should have room for alternate release profiles. | | | ...James
