| Posted: | | | | How should this one "Victim in Field" be entered: Currently its in the database as J. Todd Anderson, but you can see from the end credits that's it's just an arcane symbol. Leave it alone as it currently is, or attempt to add (uncredited) and leave it in place there? | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | ForProfiler purposes it looks like a stylized P,which should be entered. That said I did see one time where a user came up with a creative answer to thes issues, and i think it is germaine here. He entered the data as he saw it, which is what the Rules say Then under the (uncredited) section, he would have credited J. Todd Anderson as P(assuming that is what it is). Of course the J. Todd Anderson would need to be documented. But I think that is workable and provides a good cross reference. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | As I recall, the guy who played that part was a story board artist on the movie and for whatever reason he decided to use that symbol as a joke. That symbol is the one that Prince changed his name to for a few year before going back to being just Prince. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | It's not an (uncredited) situation. It's essentially a "credited as" situation; however, we have no way to record the "credited as" symbol. I would either leave it as-is, or perhaps someone has a way to describe the symbol so that "credited as" could be used. This is Fargo (1995) by the way for those that arent' familiar with the credit. IMDb and BFI use the name of the actor (who really is from the art department I think!) and neither notes a 'credited as'. TCM doesn't record the actor or the role! I think they gave up. | | | ...James

In the 'credited as' we could put "The story board artist formerly known as J. Todd Anderson". | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | "The artist formerly known as J. Todd Anderson" I didn't count them, it probably exceeds it too. Hmmm I wonder if Prince would get upset, or see the humor. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Eh, yes it's "Fargo" and there's much that's incorrect with the current profile in the database. I left Mr. Symbol the way he is, since there's really no accurate way to copy that alien symbol in the program currently. I've commented on it in the contribution notes for future reference. And just to clarify ... the Actor roles in a film should be entered AS CREDITED with whatever capitalization is shown on the screen. Normal capitalization rules do not apply with Actor roles, and they should match how they appear in the film EXACTLY. Victim In FieldVictim In CarMan In HallwayFor example, those three roles would be how they are correctly capitalized and credited in the film Fargo. Listing them as "in" would be incorrect. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

So have I but, the first time I submitted 'Night at the Museum', I entered one of the roles as "Atilla The Hun", as it was credited. I got 1 'no' vote stating it should have been 'Atilla the Hun". The contribution was declined. I waited a long time...more than two monts...because I didn't want to change my local. In the end, because I wanted to get Owen Wilson's uncredited role into the profile, I made the change and resubmitted. That was the only change I made and it was accepted. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Not trying to start an argument, but I am auditing a film where all of the roles are in all caps. This is not the first one I've seen like this and AFIK no profile I've ever seen reproduces that.
IMO it would look pretty bad for all of the role names to be that way. Is this what you guys want?
For the curious, 043396144187 Facing the Giants is what I'm working on. I can't recall any of the other titles, but I know I've seen all caps for roles in a lot of films. | | | Kevin | | | Last edited: by antolod |

| Posted: | | | | No, I am not talking about reproducing credits that are in all caps, though I don't dislike the idea. But, from where I sit, a role name is just like a proper name and every word should be capitalized. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
