With the upcoming feature of having the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray banner optionally displayed with the cover art, this will end up needing all cover art resubmitted without the banner.

Since the size limits for cover scans has been raised to 200,000 bytes, we should be able to submit significantly better scans than the existing ones for just about every single cover.

In order to prevent against duplication of effort, I suggest that we use this thread to track what titles you plan on rescanning.

Remember, the limits are 500x700 and 200,000 bytes.  That's not 200k, you'll need to view the properties of the image file to see the byte count.  200,000 bytes is 195.3k and Windows Explorer will either show 195k or 196k depending on the view (in Vista, it says 195k next to the file and 196k in the details at the bottom of the window).

Don't use DVDP to paste in a new scan or it'll alter the file when you save it - replace the existing file on the drive.

Below is a list of HD covers and their format that have already been rescanned and are assumed US unless otherwise specified.

Probably be a good idea to add to your wish-list or ordered selection all of the other versions that match the cover you're scanning so you can submit for them as well.

I submitted a banner-free scan of "Knocked Up" on HD DVD for the Canada locality (it has a bilingual overview, title etc). I will also be doing one for "Being John Malakovich" also on HD DVD. These are effectively new titles, not having been entered in the Canada region before.

One problem was that I cannot get a clean scan of the Universal "Look and Sound of Perfect"  metallic banners. I ended up compromising and cutting and pasting the banners from the existing US titles, but of course they are not bilingual as they should be....but at least they didn't look like total ass. Any suggestions?

If you have a good quality digital camera, you can try taking pictures that way.  It will be tricky though due to reflections.

Also a good idea to take a tissue and rub out any finger prints on the shiny parts.

One thing I also do is to save the rescanned cover at max JPeg quality and then adjust the quality down one or two notches at a time until I just fall under the byte cap.  The key point is to never reopen and resave an image but always save from the master.

Tissue rubbing is a given...even on regular paper. Still looks like crap.

Haven't tried a camera yet.

I've done a whole bunch without banners than I never submitted, mostly to get a better treatment on the reflective ones. Probably about the same quality as my Pirates scans from R1, although I've gotten better with practice, particularly at the Disney Swoosh!

Ken said not to submit them until the public release is imminent since he needs to tell the screeners etc.

To make a list of this kind useful you need to include the specific UPC and Locality for each title. What is currently listed is of very little use imo.

Well mine will all be US, I have lots of Canadian DVDs but no HD or BD yet. Maybe the doctor can keep a master list in the first post.

Currently with my list, there is only one movie in the database by the given names for the media.  That's also why I mentioned adding all of the other profiles to your wishlist/purchased list (if unused as such) so you could submit for the other matching profiles.
