Unfortunately we can't at the moment.
It would be nice if Ken could allow us to type an HD disc ID in manually, at least until disc recognition is included in the program, but at the moment the best we can do is either use the UPC of an individual release (if there is one) or create a manual profile (which can't be contributed).

I have to admit, I can't remember which programs I used, but I have the xbox hd dvd drive and if I look in one program I get the unfriendly disc ID (the: I43HD374 sort of thing) and in another program I got the more user-friendly name (KING_KONG or similar).
I don't know about blu-ray discs but I thought they would be similar.
If people are interested I'll do some investigating as to which programs they were.

That's specifically against the rules and will only lead to confusion and mess. Gotta be patient for the time being.

Even if you had a blu-ray drive, DVD Profiler throws an error when trying to read the Blu-ray Disc ID.  I was able to pull back what used to be the old disc id prior to DVDP 3.0.  DVDP 3.0 calls a function within MS's DirectX DVDNavigator object.  I've asked Ken about this and he won't be able to troubleshoot the issue until he purchases a blu-ray drive.

This would have to be approved by Ken, but taking a look at 3 random Blu-ray discs that a friend of mine owns, it looks like the Disc ID might be inscribed in the inner ring on the data side of the disc. I looked at his Kingdom of Heaven, Deja Vu and Kung Fu Hustle discs and they had IDs inscribe in the ring that either started with BvSS- (I assume for single layer) or BVDL- (I assume for Dual Layer) and an 8 digit alpha numerical (123456A7) code. The BVDL- discs had 2 IDs one for each layer it looks like (123456A7 and 123456B7).

Odds are microsoft have written the idvdinfo stuff not to work with Blu-Ray 

In which case, it wouldn't be difficult for Ken to fix, without a blu-ray drive, if someone who had one was able to run some test code for him. It would only need some code snippets and maybe some directory listings I'm sure.

My proposal would be an option for custimized UPCs in one of the future DVDP versions. For example when the Box UPC is 4030521710849, we add letters at the end, e.g. disc one would be 4030521710849-a, disc two 4030521710849-b etc.
