| Posted: | | | | I submitted info taken from a press pre-release DVD and it was voted down 50-0 or something. Of course, when the final version hit the shops several weeks later, the credits were exactly the same as the limited pre-release.
I learned to not submit such an entry anymore, since most voters seem more obsessed with the rules than interested in having valid information in their database. *shrug*
Edit: oops. This was supposed to be a new reply in the "Cast/Crew pre-release" thread. Sorry ... | | | Last edited: by Italo_Disco |

| Posted: | | | | You call 50-0 most voters? I would say they are all obsessed. Anyway what I said in the other thread, do not enter cast and crew until the DVD is officially released and you're out in the clear. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

Pre-release does NOT mean don't follow the Rules,. They still apply. It's not hard to do, I can usually enter up to half dozen actors from my own memory and maybe the director, NO ROLES. But if I recall you were over the top, and trynig to supply all Cast and Crew data without having the disc in hand.
Simply follow the Rules, if you wish to depart from them you are free to do so LOCALLY.

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't have any problems accepted cast & crew information from a preview DVD. I know that sometimes these preview discs are bare bones versions without extras, all audio tracks etc. so I wouldn't have taken that kind of info from them - but cast & crew should have been fine. |

Where does he say he did not have the disc? Do you suspect the press DVD would have different credits from the general release DVD? | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure I understand this. Italo Disco had the press release DVD; why can't he contribute the data from that movie? I don't see anything against submitting this in the rules. Am I missing something? Can someone clarify this for me? |

Skip Did you read what he wrote? He said he had the "press pre-release DVD". That means he had the DVD in hand, he just got it early. Since he had the DVD in his hand, and copied the credits from it, he was following the rules. It's not a whole lot different than my contribution of the 'Alien Nation' set that is, currently, exclusive only to Best Buy. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Yes I did and and i did not read it the way some others have. If that is true then Italo needs to be more clear in his notes, obvioysly 50 voters agreed with MY read on what he said.

| Posted: | | | | Cliff, is necessary to make insulting remarks. That is YOUR assumption, and certainly bears no resemblance to reality. Unicus asked me a question (in typical Unicus fashion), which I answered directly and expanded on. That is not even a judgement on my part of whether I was right or wrong, it was statement that there appeared to be bunch of users who interpreted his comment as i did as noted by the user himself in his vote count In reality there is ONLY one relevant point...the user was attempting to violate the Rules for pre-release data and was clearly unclear, at the very least, in communicating where the data originated in his notes. Had he been more clear in his notes I am sure everyone would have voted Yes, instead of NO. A press screener, or any other kind of screener is not at all unusual and is precisely the same as the film (at least credit wise), I don't recall ever seeing any mention of screeners in his or anyone else's notes. Just a plain "from the DVD" type of Note, when the title may not be due out for several weeks. It behooves all of us to remember that we are not mind readers, though some seem to believe they have clairvoyant abilities and we must be very clear in what we are trying to communicate. He may have been guilty of this. Since I don't know which profile he is talking about, I can't say for sure. Umm yse thera are Rules for Pre-release data, they are called THE RULES, and they aAPPLY whether the title has been released or NOT. It's a trifle difficult to provide Cast and Crew data per the Rules without having the disc in hand. If he is using a screener he needs to make it clear that he is in possession of same, if the title is not due for several more weeks, I am not going to pretend to read his mind and say aha he has a screener. Your persistent parsing in order to ATTEMPT to poke holes is bothersome, annoying and I can't believe you are that... Stop it. I KNOW you are smarter than your parsing indicates.
