| Posted: | | | | What about including a checkbox for Store Exclusives and include a field to into the name of the store?
That way it would be easier to list all the exclusives from a certain store such as Target, Best Buy, Circuit City - etc.. |

| Posted: | | | | I'd very much love to see something like this also.
Often these "store exclusives" don't have anything mentioning it's an exclusive on the package...besides perhaps a sticker on the cover stating that it's a store exclusive with a bonus featurette included or whatever. I own quite a few Best Buy exclusives like that. And of course those retail stickers aren't included in the database scans, so there's no easy way to distinguish between the releases. | | | Corey |

A few examples off the top of my head: Knocked Up - 2-disc version only available at Sanity - 2nd disc was extra features Jumper - lenticular cover exclusive to JB Walk Hard - "Extended" (ie unrated) version with 2nd bonus features disc exclusive to JB There are also a number of Warners, Sony and Paramount back catalogue titles that are "store exclusives" through Big W or K-Mart. |

There are also a number of Warners, Sony and Paramount back catalogue titles that are "store exclusives" through Big W or K-Mart. As Michael A says, JB have been doing it for a number of years (V For Vendetta [bonus comic] and Corpse Bride [bonus art/script book], AEon Flux [slip cover] are are ones off the top of my head that I grabbed), and EB Games even had an exclusive steelbook release for the first Appleseed movie (though it then turned up in another outlet, so wasn't quite as exclusive as advertised). Video Ezy used to have exclusive stuff... The Believer (about a skinhead Jew) and a lot of the Hallmark stuff (Merlin, Gulliver's Travels, Dinotopia, etc.) started out as exclusives, but most have since been released by another distributor. (in hindsight, I will put a post up to let you guys know how to get those free dvds) EDIT: Done, in general forum
p.s. Flag added, I wondered how you guys had flags :D | | | Last edited: by icefyre |

| Posted: | | | | Couldn't that be considered as an "edition"?
I can't remember seeing such exclusives here in Germany except for some "Amazon exclusive" deals but I don't know whether they were actually exclusive. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I see one big problem with this. The value of this would be that one knows if his wishlist item is an exclusive so he knows where to look for it, right? Well, what if it was later sold elsewhere (I remember german examples like Pirates of the Caribbean 3-Disc) ? We have a rule to enter the info from the original release but that basically means the checkbox is checked and suggests it's an exclusive, when in fact it isn't and the potential buyer doesn't have to look at a specific place only... | | | - Jan |

Stores often get releases to sell for an exclusive amount of time earlier than everywhere else. A good example being the Legend/Paramount DVD releases which could only be purchased at Best Buy for several months prior to any other store. But now you can purchase those releases all over the place. Wal-Mart is another place where that happens quite often. I wouldn't really consider those "exclusives" as we're talking of here per se, but I see the confusion it could cause. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | The problem with using the Edition field is that many Retailer Exclusives use the exact same UPC as the regular release. They just package their additional discs, booklets, postcards, etc, etc, etc, along with the regular keepcase or whatever. Using a checkbox to identify these exclusives would be more appropriate. Then again, tags would serve the same purpose. Check a box or assign a tag. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

So it doesn't matter whether it's a checkbox or an edition, it's either set because the "exclusive" won or it's not then the regular release won. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

If a title, Store Exclusive and universal release, is released using the same UPC on the same day, the universal release gets the UPC. This has always been the consensous as far as I know.
