Since the majority of blu-rays are Dolby TrueHD 5.1, shouldn't we have a drop down for TrueHD 5.1 & TrueHD 7.1.  Then for the audio channels icon it would match for either 5.1 or 7.1.  Right now all blu-rays that have TrueHD are showing up as 7.1, but the vast majority of them are only 5.1.  The same goes for DTS-HD-MA.  Majority are 5.1 and the audio channels icon should match the 5.1 layout not the 7.1.  For example Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas has the TrueHD 7.1 soundtrack.

That is what we have been saying audio channels should have a drop down box another example is the UK release of "The Thing" has a Spanish dts 2.0 mono track

Another idea if we use a drop box for audio put "commentary" in the audio format section where Dolby digital would go since all the commentaries I have seen have been DD. This would leave then the language and channel box free. So it read commentary in box one, language the commentary is in, in box two and finally how many channels the audio is in for box three. I still think the multi drop box would be the best way to go for audio just hope we have all the channel options like 1.1, 4.0, 4.1 which are not as common

I can't put my finger on it, but I remember reading about one or two BluRays that have DTS 2.0 commentaries...

The scandinavian version of The Deer Hunter has French, Spanish and Portugeese DTS 2.0 . So we absolutely need more options, and as mentioned a drop down for number of chanels in audiosection would solve this

One suggestion (an interesting one, I think) that was made on the forums here, was to split the audio codec and the number of channels into two seperate drop down boxes. This would allow to make any necessary combination without creating a list that is 2 screens long.

A non-exhaustive example:
- Audio codec: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Surround, DTS, DTS HD MA, Dolby True-HD MA, PCM Linear
- channels: 1.0 , 2.0 , 2.1 , 5.1 , 6.1 , 7.1

Even though the list above isn't exhaustive, you see you can already make many combinations, such as Dolby TrueHD MA 7.1, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS HD MA 5.1, etc

True Blood: The Complete First Season had DTS-2.0 tracks on it which needed to be entered as "other" for the format since that is not listed.

I beleive that a flexible audio option would be a better option.  As there is still HD DVD and Blu-ray on the market (yes HD DVD is still selling at very low price per titles) and as it is still possible that the Dolby Digital Plus codec can be use on Blu-ray Discs and that would apply also for Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio.

I would recomend that when comes the time to selec the audio we should have the type of audio as a choice exemple: Dolby TrueHD and then have an option to select the number of chanels form 1.0 to 7.1. If you take exemple of the movie Casablanca either on Blu-ray or HD DVD that movie has a mono soundtrack and who knows maybe we could get a special edition with a Dolby TrueHD but Mono or simulated Stereo or even 7.1 who knows, On HD DVD this is a Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack but Mono (Dolby Digital Plus) was mandatory on HD DVD.

There are many movies on HD DVD that are from 1.0 to 7.1 so a realy more flexible way or a complete list of every possiblities of soundtracks is another way It wouldn't request a special script but simply adding all the possibilities.

I beleive the simpliest would be the better.

The Criterion Blu-ray of The Seventh Seal has a PCM 1.0 track that I couldn't enter so indeed, we need to be able to select all applicable options for all formats.

Definitely. It's strange that we have a "mono" option for MPEG-2 audio even, but no PCM mono option. MPEG-2 is also the only format that currently has a "2.0" option instead of simply Stereo (Surround is already a choice) as PCM & Dolby currently have in the program.

We also sorely need DTS mono/stereo option(s).

I think a 3rd "Channels" drop-down column certainly should work well enough in the audio section to solve all of these problems, and should be easy for Ken to implement in the Program.

I've seen commentaries as DTS on some Blu-ray releases. I've also recently seen a DVD with the commentary track as MPEG-2 audio.

I really agree to this. Some HD titles might even have DTS-MA 5.1 and others 7.1. Possibly the third selection choice should be speaker set-up. Or more choices to choose from.
Pertaining when Warner Brothers releases older B&W/Color films onto Blu-ray which would have a Dolby TrueHD 1.0 track.

+1
For me this kind of solution is the easier and more flexible to manage audio tracks.

This would be ideal IMHO, so +1 for that
