| Posted: | | | | Here's version 0.1.0.0 of CrewEdit 2: http://doena-soft.de/dvdprofiler/3.5.1/CrewEdit2.zipIt helps you to rip IMDb crew data and insert it into DVD Profiler. What needs to be done now is to transform/map IMDb crew roles into the ones from DVD Profiler For example: Fanboys. The credit there is "Writing credits" -> "screenplay" which has to be mapped to "Writing" -> "Screenwriter" For this you use the "IMDbToDVDProfilerCrewRoleTransformation.xml" and the above example would look like this: Quote: <CreditType> <IMDbCreditType>Writing credits</IMDbCreditType> <DVDProfilerCreditType>Writing</DVDProfilerCreditType> <CreditSubtypeList> <CreditSubtype> <IMDbCreditSubtype>screenplay</IMDbCreditSubtype> <DVDProfilerCreditSubtype>Screenwriter</DVDProfilerCreditSubtype> </CreditSubtype> </CreditSubtypeList> </CreditType> All valid DVD Profiler CreditType/CreditSubtypes are shown in the file "AllDVDProfilerCrewRoles.xml" It would be great, if you could send me your enhanced "IMDbToDVDProfilerCrewRoleTransformation.xml" files. PS: And remember: IMDb data must not (!) be contributed to the Online Database. PPS: Cast Edit 2 and other software can be found here: http://doena-soft.de/dvdprofiler/index_en.php | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Wow, I was just on your site grabbing the updates for CastEdit2 and was trying to figure a way to parse the Crew data. I had seen another tool that would parse it, but it generated invalid data (using the "long" XML formatted output. I was going to write a PERL script using the XML parser module to convert it, but had been wishing to myself that you and/or your tool would support the Crew data mining. And it appears that you have !!! . I am coming to really love your toolset more and more. I didn't see the CrewEdit on there earlier today, maybe I missed it. Heading back over there to check it out myself. The only thing missing from your site is a Donate button P.S. Ever consider combinging CrewEdit2 and CastEdit2 into the same GUI ? That way we would only need to paste the URL for a new moive once. Will DVDP let you paste crew and cast all at once ? Or would there need to be two generate buttons, one for cast and one for crew data ? Again, many many thanks !!! |

| Posted: | | | | The latest version works fantastic. 0.2.1.0 had some parsing issues, but 0.3.1.0, along with what looks like a beefier mapping file, is working great !!!! many thanks |

It was not now nor ever (that I am aware of) intended to be used for contributions. In fact there are multilpe warning popups when you use the program making sure that you understand that. And as for imdb, IIRC their terms and conditions merely state that the data must not be used for commerical anything, but only for personal use, which is what this would be for. |

| Posted: | | | | I tried it on the previous version and it didn't work for pulling crew data for TV shows, possbily because that data is incomplete/scatterred for TV shows (the ones I checked it only listed the # of shows that the "crew" worked on, not which episodes, etc, like they do for the cast). The CastEdit2ForTVShows works great though (but it only grabs the cast for the shows/episodes). At least that has been my experience using the various tools . The author will have more/better info I am sure |

There's no "Crew Edit 2 For TV Shows" yet, but if you select a TV episode like you would select a movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0759572/ It will parse it just like a regular movie. If you need to scan more than one episode, you need to paste the result into a Text Editor of your choice and combine the results manually. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Love the way you implemented the combined crew/cast edit 2 program. Going to exercise it later on today, work permitting |

| Posted: | | | | Nice work on these utilities, and I'm very grateful for your efforts. While the products cannot be contributed, it gives you a good starting point for a valid contribution, since much of the time when you audit the disc you just have to re-sort them, delete character last names and get rid of the uncrediteds (unless you can verify them). Really saves on labor. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | When I click on "Get Birth Years" I more often than not get the error:
"The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable."
It usually (always?) downloads SOME birth years before giving me that error, and if I click the button again it downloads a few more before coming back with the error. It takes a few repeat clicks to download everything, with each one generating the same error.

KM Read the readme. Nah, serious. In previous versions I automatically grabbed the birth years. But at some point the IMDb server shuts down with the above mentioned 503. I assume I query too many pages in too short a time. I tried to insert artificial delays but it didn't help. So I outsourced the method to a seperate button. Even then it will pop up as you noticed. But: You can press it again. An internal cache stores the already grabbed birth years and continues with those that hadn't been grabbed yet. So, for a standard movie credit you need to press the button one to three times. The application will tell you when it actually has all the birth years. And as long as it's running it will cache that data - which comes in handy for TV shows where the 5 or 6 regular cast people are listed in every episode. PS: I added an additional explanation in the error message for the next version. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
