I would rather have it functioning right, then have it buggy right now!

| Posted: | | | | If you are desperate for an interim (I was) try "printing" a PDF and using one of the free PDF reader apps to put it on your iPhone/iTouch.The trick is to choose a report style with big print and little detail. Oh, and avoid large images as the file will get too big. No features but at least it saves paper and carrying a printed list about. Cheers, Liz |

| Posted: | | | | I got a better idea, how about a profiler app for the iPhone? Perhaps it could be called 'DVD Profiler' or 'iProfiler'.

| Posted: | | | | I use the very great app "Movies HD", you can see the cover in great order, Searching, selecting (Disc Media, actor etc) all works fine. Because we are waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting for the dvdprofiler app is the Movies HD the best solution. |

| Posted: | | | | My concern is that with decent apps like Movies HD coming out at the €4/$5 US price (apps which will become more sophisticated), the chances that people will be prepared to pay around €25 (as was discussed earlier) for an official version must be dropping. With there being a demand for something now, and no idea of release time scale, the chances of people investigating other apps grows.
I'm a big fan of DVD Profiler and really want to see the official iPhone/iPad version be available and succeed, but I think if there is no announcement made about approximate availability, all Ken's effort may not have the market it should.
I appreciate that apps have to be written in a completely different language, and would ask if it might make commercial sense to outsource the remainder of the initial development to get it available in a basic form asap, and then make a decision how to handle future development?
My vote is as its always been, basic now, improve later. | | | Last edited: by mucde |

| Posted: | | | | Put simply, there won't be many people who are willing to pay more than $9.99 for the app. Just isn't going to happen. The $4.99 - $9.99 price point is for apps that people use DAILY (chat/social networking apps). Not apps they use occasionally. Granted, some of you probably launch DVD Profiler daily (and obsess about your collections) but the masses won't be doing that. | | | JAFO

| Posted: | | | | I got tired of waiting around and got MyMovies. It's not GREAT, Not a lot that I really like, but at least I can view my movie list on my phone at any time. I'm a long time DVDProfiler user and Windows Mobile which I got as soon as that was released. I have no use to carry around my Bulky HP IPAQ anymore. I like my nice SMALL phone. I still want to buy the IPhone version, but if it's going to be over $10, it better be hella good and worth it!!! Especially after all this time. i mean come on, we are at Version 4 of the Iphone. So there's been a few YEARS to do something. Well it get released before the Iphone 5? I'm not sure?!?!?!?!?!?!
Look how long just to put up a feature Request Forum. Just that fact alone doesn't sound like it'll be done anytime soon when feature requests are just NOW being asked!!! As for any Android people, which is a fast growing group, maybe in another 3-5 years there could be a version for you also. |

| Posted: | | | | In terms of pricing, the closest equivalent I could find is Collectorz's iPhone app that syncs with that program the way DVD Profiler and its iPhone app should work together. The app costs $9.99. But it depending on what the DVD Profiler app has that other programs don't. If it is feature-laden that is heads and shoulders above its competitors, a higher price point might be necessary. |

| Posted: | | | | I have no problem paying more! But it does have to be really good. It also needs to be release someday also. With the Android population growing plus here comes Windows Mobile 7 shortly, who even knows if/when those will ever see the light of day.

Just had a look at Collectorz.com and in the words made famous by Al Borland from TVs Home Improvement, I don't think so Tim. Whenever so many customer testimonials have to be posted on a site, little alarm bells ring in my head and, sho nuf, theres lots of catches, least of all the need to purchase the Pro edition to get the iPhone functionality. I'd rather hand write my collection catalogue than pay that sort of money. Wal | | | At My Age, sex is like playing pool with a piece of rope. |

| Posted: | | | | Discovered "My Movies Rack" and "My Movies Rack Free" Apps via another forum on this site. Designed by another user (thank you samuel22) to import DVDP personal collection. Free one (without filters) works OK and once downloaded can be read without wifi although the order is a bit odd (easier to control in a report) but what can you demand for free . Liz |

| Posted: | | | | I'm now using "My Movies Rack" too. Does what it says on the tin. Syncs with your on line Profiler collection and lists your movies with images and basic info about each film. Cheap (and useful) interim.
Works fine on my iphone 4 and ipad. | | | Gonna jump...gonna jump... |

| Posted: | | | | To all who mentioned "My Movies Rack" thanks! While it is no substitute for any DVDProfiler app Ken will come up with, it is a great stopgap solution. Bobb | | | Do Cheshire Cats drink evaporated milk? | | | Last edited: by bobb |

Is there a Ken? Does he in fact exist? Could this be some strange Manchurian Candidate experiment set to test the resolve of the faithful?
