Cubby, what part of "not in the cast list" don't you understand?

Just for the record, I don't see why everybody is so hot to put this old boy in the cast list.  If you watch the featurettes, you find out quickly that the story is more of metaphor, even a cliche, than anything else.  What the author did was take a statement made by an old blues man and build a story around it.  Same as if he'd taken a statement from an old journal, or a daguerrotype picture and used that as a jumping off point.  This isn't a true story, it's just one made up that is illustrative of many of the subjects that you hear about in blues music.

You completely missed the point.  I don't want to put him in the cast list, I want to follow the rules.  If he is listed in the credits, opening or closing, he belongs in the cast list.  If he isn't, then he doesn't.

I didn't miss a damn thing.  I told you guys before he isn't in the cast list.  Period.  I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about whether or not he SHOULD be.  He isn't.

Self edit...not really worth it.

Back on topic, the rules are crystal clear here.  If he is in the credits, he goes in the profile cast list.  If he isn't, he does not.

If Hitler, the Coke can, or the Ford were given a credit -- list 'em.

If not, scenery/prop/set dressing/special effect.

Son House, in the opening credits, by the rules, needs to be included in cast list.

... I don't give a damn what you think, either.  What you are stating isn't a fact but your subjective opinion.

Yes, you "told you guys before he isn't in the cast list. Period."  If he is listed with the other actors in the opening credits, HE IS CREDITED regardless of whether or not he's in the end credits.  So a discussion about whether or not he SHOULD be credited is moot, because HE IS CREDITED.  Period.

If his image appears at the end of the movie with his name displayed on the screen along with other actors' images with their names displayed, then he is "credited" in the film and should be included at the beginning of the cast list.

He is not listed in the opening credits. At the end of the film there are stills of the main actors with their name listed on the bottom of the screen, he is the last one shown. After that there is the "standard cast credits", where he is not listed.

As his name is listed in a part of the credits, he should be listed.

If he isn't in the credit list, he IS NOT CREDITED, PERIOD, END OF STORY!  Just because his picture is shown and he is identified doesn't make that a credit.

Platoon does a similar thing prior to the standard end credits so it is not unique.  I would include him as well.

In your opinion.  Last I checked, you were a regular user just like everyone else.  The concensus, at least in this thread, is he is credited.

Yet nobody has given a good reason WHY he should be credited.  Not ONE!

Spreading out the opening credits over the first 20 minutes of the movie doesn't make the parts of the movie between the credits PART OF the credits!  What is matter with you guys?

There us at keast one other movie out there (Air America, I am almost sure) that has actors listed at the open, then shows the stars  pictures at the end with their names, then has a standard closing credit roll where the main stars are not listed at the top, but in the middle.

Talk about confusing

I am sorry if I was unclear, what I was talking about happens at the end of the movie.  The film ends, they have small clips of each of the 'main' actors including names then the written credits roll.  These are not part of the film.

They display his picture and his name at the end of the film.

Please explain to me why that is not a credit

There is no requirement in the Rules that says the credit has to appear in the "standard credits" at the end of the film with everybody else.

You're right, they're called outtakes, and very common - but they are NOT part of the credits.
