The suspensions are intended to call attention to the feedback we provide for declines, so users can understand the reasons and not just get frustrated with declines.
As to the length, the first suspension is 24 hours. Second is 48 hours, third is a week and fourth is permanent. The suspension lengths reset after 30 days.
We've found so far overall a very positive reaction to the system once the reasons are understood. Mostly. Ken, Gerri has stated that you still don't have all the reasons in the system and that not all declined contributions will get feedback. I'm wondering if all the rejected contributions are considered when suspending someone or only those for which you were able to provide feedback. I think it would not be fair to suspend a contributor for a bunch of rejected contributions if no reasons were ever provided to him/her. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W | | | Last edited: by Touti |

Psssst, that's his Tag. Yes and as he has apparently been using the program for long enough to know how to change that, yet only posted 1 message in the last 4 months, maybe he has no idea what he did wrong ... but to guess that he has no idea how to check the contributions in My Profiler, I doubt it (as it is the tab right above each other). I guess I can only hope that the things he did was repeated many times... I for one would hate to see n00bs being blocked because they do not even know the rules are there and contribute IMDB cast and crew data for a box set -- to me this is the mark of someone who just does not know, not someone who blatantly violates the rules... oh well that is about 2 cents worth... |

In general, we are not suspending people for merely not following the rules. Generally people understand and change after they see the decline reasons. The users are provided with reasons when they are suspended.

I am not in a very sympathetic mood at the moment. Right now we have a new user who has made several Contributions which violate the rules, he PM'd me, I tried to explain it to him and his response is to argue with me...so sympathetic I am not.
Skip Skip you're not referring to me are you? I thought we cleared this up. Let me know. Thanks | | | Last edited: by verdejt |

It might be worth putting this information into the contribution rules somewhere, so that in the future people are aware that this may happen, and if so for how long etc
Just a thought | | | Last edited: by TommyG |

Just a thought Hmm, isn't it people who are NOT reading the rules that will most likely encounter this problem. I would recommend the information to be present along with the message the user get when trying to submit while being suspended. | | | Regards Lars |
