Yeah but maybe once they are on low reputation they may think twice about making posts which may recieve negative ratings.  Which I would of thought is the whole point really.  A bit like the 'Justice field' on Dwarf lol

Sounds like it could be a good idea... just hope I am wrong here... but I have a feeling many will be abusing this. Of course hard for me to completely picture until it is implemented.

A problem I see with this is that it'll negate the posts where people update them over time.  For example, there are two pinned threads in the General topic where people keep track of their theater visits and DVD list.  If they can't edit their previous post to add additional information, the only thing that they can do is to add a new post.  That leads to fragmentation and pretty much makes the thread useless.

Could you expand on the first part? Normal users cannot make real announcements so I'm not sure what that means. Threads introducing a plugin, HTML section, or other accessory are normal threads and not pinned. No longer being able to edit the first post in those is a bit of a drawback.

Otherwise I think it is a great idea that has the potential of making this place a little more friendly again.

Can you tell which of your posts or votes or contributions have received negative votes?

If you edit a post or a vote or contribution notes, does it reset the reputation voting?
