| Posted: | | | | Just wanted to post, that even as daunting as the unconfirmed credit list still is with 15 unconfirmed credits (even after 36 confirmed credits), if we can actually confirm only one more credit in Anthony Head's favor, we'll actually have determined the common name. Anthony Head would have 26 confirmed credits, and with only 14 unconfirmed credits left, the most Anthony Stewart Head could receive would be 25. So we're very, very close to confirming a common name after all these years! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | That confirms it! With only 14 unconfirmed credits left, the most Anthony Stewart Head could get is 25 credits, while Anthony Head is already at 26 credits. After all this time, the official confirmed common name is Anthony Head! There's still 14 unconfirmed credits though, so if anyone is able to confirm them, please do so and I'll continue to update the thread as necessary! A great many thanks to everyone who helped out with this one! You all rock! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | WRT M-I5: Series 1 (Volume 1) (Ep. 4), if it's the same as in the UK (where the series is called Spooks) then there are no credits on the programme done as an affectation to imply the secrecy of the characters in MI-5 etc.
I *believe* he was credited as Anthony Head on the official BBC website/DVD extras which give cast and crew details but am not able to check at this time. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I think that each episode the person is credited in should count as 1 unique credit. The reasoning being for 24 (ish) episodes week after week for seven seasons, he was credited as "Anthony Stewart Head" which would make that credit far more "common." |

| Posted: | | | | Definitely a valid arguement! It's impossible to count them that way with the way the CLT is set up now though. Since a single season in the CLT counts as one credit, I think this is the best way to go for the time being unless something changes. I could totally be in the minority though. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | Actually, I have to wonder about that, since the CLT results show 317/423 for Anthony Stewart Head. I have a hard time believe that those are all just translations of the same 11 titles. |

| Posted: | | | | Buffy also has all the individual discs entered. Thanks to how original titles work, they aren't very good at identifying TV dupes, so Buffy gets counted lots of times. |

I have a hard time believe that those are all just translations of the same 11 titles. They are though... kind of. Like Ace_of_Sevens said, because of how original titles work, and since we don't add original titles to disc level profiles, they all get counted numerous times (this could be a strong arguement for counting credits at a disc level profile instead of a season profile). That and in one region, the title of the set might be Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season and in another region it might be Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season One, they get counted again, numerous times all for the exact same profile basically. If you've got Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season in the U.S. and it has six disc level profiles, you get seven different credits counted in the CLT. The Season, Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3 etc. etc. And if you have Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season One from the U.K. with six disc level profiles, you get seven different credits counted in the CLT there too. Making two season profiles of the same thing count as 14 credits in the CLT results. Add in the number of profiles entered in with variations on titles depending on how the original contributor submitted it (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season: Disc 1 vs. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season - Disc 1) and you've just double the number of credits in the CLT for those profiles yet again. And then there's spelling out the number vs. using the actual number (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season: Disc One vs. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season: Disc 1), again, CLT results just got jacked. I could easily see 317/423 CLT results coming from translations of the same 11 titles depending on how many were released. The first three seasons of Angel I have, have "on DVD" on the front cover. So the titles for those got entered as Angel: The Complete First Season on DVD. A re-release later on, dropped the "on DVD" from the front cover. So those re-releases got entered as Angel: The Complete First Season. Same thing, 14 different CLT credits. There needs to be better rules regarding how to enter titles and original titles when it comes to television sets. | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | There's that, but it's partially because seasons are called series in the UK and mostly because since the season designator is only part of the name of the DVD release and not the work itself, it's generally unclear what counts as original. |

| Posted: | | | | That being said, though, doesn't that bolster my point that there are more unique instances of him being credited as Anthony Stewart Head (counting each episode as a unique instance), than as Anthony Head, throughout the lifespan of his career, thereby making it the more "common" name?
Why do we distinguish at the season level, and not the series level, or the episode level. If we were to go solely on disc count, even then, I could argue that Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 1: Disc One, Disc Two, et al should be factored into "common name" counts. |

Depends on how you look at it I suppose. One could argue that through the lifespan of his career, he's actually been credited as Anthony Head more. From 1978 through the mid 90's (95/96/97) he was pretty much exclusively credited as Anthony Head. 17 years of being credited as Anthony Head, until he started doing some work in the U.S. where he was occasionally credited as Anthony Stewart Head. Then along came Buffy for 7 years, and he was credited exclusively as Anthony Stewart Head for those 7 years. Since Buffy ended, he's been very occasionally credited as Anthony Stewart Head but once again mainly credited as Anthony Head. Buffy ended in 2003, so in the 9 years since, he's been almost exclusively credited as Anthony Head again. 26 years years of Anthony Head credits vs. 8-9 years of Anthony Stewart Head credits. Which sounds like he was credited as more? If we're talking unique, then we also have to figure out what unique means according to DVDProfiler. Is unique in the television set world a single episode? A single season? An entire series? A disc level profile? None of those questions have ever been answered, so because of that, since the system counts a single season as one credit, there's no reason to believe it should be done any differently. It'd be awesome if Ken finally stepped in and gave a definitive answer, but... well... those answers come few and far between. I've got no dog in this race either way. I wouldn't care one way or the other, but since this is the way it's been done for, well, since at least I've been around, I don't really think making a single exception in this case is the way to go because it'll open a can of worms the size of China and everyone will just end up doing what they want, causing more chaos than we already have. | | | The night is calling.
