Sony is currently in negotiations with IBM and Toshiba on the exact date and terms of the pullout. Your powers of prediction are incredible!! |

| Posted: | | | | I guess you missed the part of your quote where I said "which I believe". Plus, your article quote said, "...plans to cease participation in the Cell processor's FUTURE ITERATIONS." They just finished development on the 6GHz 45nm Cell processor. Why would they need to develop FUTURE ITERATIONS for a PS4? They ALREADY developed the 45nm version that runs at 6GHz! The very nature of the Cell is to be able to just add another processor when you need more power. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

| Posted: | | | | Major leaps in PS3 visuals for at least four more yearsHere is part of an interview with Insomniac Games Chief Creative Officer... Quote: "The amount of action we're able to put on the screen at 60 frames per second really dwarfs what we were able to do a year ago at 30 frames per second," said Hastings. "What's most exciting is the way things are headed right now I think we'll see just as big a leap from our second generation engine to our third as we did from the first to second."
Looking ahead, he was equally as optimistic: "We're already seeing a big leap in what people are able to do with the PS3 now compared to a year ago, and we're going to see just as big a leap between now and the end of 2008," said the Insomniac Games Chief Creative Officer. "I think we're going to continue seeing major leaps each year in what people are able to do with the machine for at least three or four more years."
"The tech and gameplay teams have moved tons of things over to the SPUs that used to run on the PPU," said Hastings on the improvements made to Insomniac's game engine. "Collision and physics are entirely running on SPUs now, which allows us to put much more on the screen at once than we were able to with Resistance. Moving more and more code to the SPUs is an ongoing process and I think we'll continue to see major benefits from this for several more years." If this is true, WOW! Even if there are just 2 more LEAPS in PS3 visuals, it will be WAY beyond anything else. Hell, one more LEAP would do that. That should be Resistance 2. Mark Rein says UT3 has better graphics than Gears of War (and much more stable). That should be on the PS3 in Dec. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

Ah yes, exciting quotes from Insomniac, makers of Ratchet and Clank, while we're here lets see how Ratchet sales were in October, it got some good reviews and was one of the handful of PS3 exclusives: Quote: 1. Halo 3 (Xbox 360) -- 433,800 2. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock w/ guitar (Xbox 360) -- 383, 200 3. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock w/ guitar (Wii) -- 286,300 4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock w/ guitar (PlayStation 2) -- 271,100 5. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS) -- 262,800 6. Wii Play w/ remote (Wii) -- 239,700 7. The Orange Box (Xbox 360) -- 238,400 8. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock w/o guitar (PlayStation 2) -- 231,700 9. FIFA Soccer 08 (PlayStation 2) -- 129,700 10. Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day (Nintendo DS) -- 116,900 Oh...oh dear. No PS3 games in the top 10. R&C has sold even less than Heavenly Sword's 139,000 in September's number 10 slot. Tragic. Here is hardware: Quote: # Wii -- 519,000 # Nintendo DS -- 458,000 # Xbox 360 -- 366,000 # PlayStation Portable -- 286,000 # PlayStation 2 -- 184,000 # PlayStation 3 -- 121,000 Still no sign of the bubble bursting for Nintendo, and still no sign of life from the stillborn PS3. |

| Posted: | | | | ROFLMAO! I posted about leaps in PS3 VISUALS (talking about the strength of the hardware's abilities when matched with GREAT developers) and your response was past sales numbers?! Too funny! | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

| Posted: | | | | My post illustrated that the "great developer" you are referring to and one of the last few top tier developers left at Sony have released their premier title and it has sold dismally. Glad you think its funny, being a PS3 owner I don't find it that funny that the console I have invested in is dying. | | | Last edited: by stefc |

It's funny that you didn't include Resistance sales. Is it not from the very same "great developer"? By dying, you mean doubling sales in the US (the PS3's toughest market), right?! By dying, you mean beating the Xbox 360 by as much as 50% in some parts of Europe, right?! By dying, you mean week ending Nov. 11 the PS3 outsold the Wii by over 20,000 units, right?! Your words are, indeed, funny. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

Post as much Sony P.R. and spin as you like, doesn't change anything, the NPD numbers are right there in front of you - 121,000 in October. 119,000 in September. The PS3 is the lowest selling console in the US bar none EVERY SINGLE MONTH SINCE ITS RELEASE. November 2006 through to October 2007. EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. |

| Posted: | | | | Probably because Sony is still suppoting the PS2. I wonder what the Xbox360 sales would look like if MS still supported the original Xbox. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | Ah man not you too. God of War 2, a sequel to an existing PS2 game was about the only AAA PS2 1st party title of 2007. Everything else Sony produced was Buzz or Singstar. PS3 lack of sales can not be blamed on Sony's PS2 support. And the Xbox 1 has nothing to do with it either.
When are you zealots gonna accept that a multitude of their own huge errors has got Sony to where they currently are in the console industry. I guess first you would have to accept that they are currently third in a 3 horse race, something neither of you will ever be able to see... |

| Posted: | | | | Lack of PS3 sales can be balmed on PS2 sales. Why is the PS2 still outselling the PS3? Maybe because Sony is till making new games for it? | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | Well, it's been three months since I first did a gamerankings.com comparison of each console's library of games. Here it is again: Games scoring 90 or better PS3: 2 Wii: 4 Xbox: 11 Games scoring 80 or better PS3: 24 Wii: 10 Xbox: 66 Some notable changes over the last three months: - The PS3 saw 1 new release score 90+, the Wii had 2 and the Xbox had 6. - The PS3 added 10 games to the 80+ category, the Wii added 3, the Xbox added 12. - One of the Wii's new 90+ releases (Super Mario Galaxy) is currently the best reviewed game of all time. And with 39 reviews at time of writing, this probably won't change. Note: Xbox Live Arcade, Virtual Console or expansion packs are not included in these stats. Grand Theft Auto IV March 2008
Why was it delayed? Word around town has development on the PS3 version trailing way behind the Xbox 360 version (which also didn't run very smoothly the last time we saw it.)
Worth the wait? Thanks to GTA4's strikingly improved visuals, new targeting system, and online multiplayer (recent reports have it supporting 16 people), we fully expect this return trip to Liberty City to be as fun as the first go-around.
Splinter Cell: Conviction Spring 2008
Why was it delayed? We wonder if Microsoft and its exclusive dollars had anything to do with this stealthy, 360-only effort being held back in order to face off with the PS3-only MGS4.
Worth the wait? Conviction promises to reimagine the somewhat repetitive series by giving sneaky protagonist Sam Fisher a Jason Bourne-style makeover, complete with urban combat and realistic crowd reactions.
there are quite a bit more, but these two stood out. Maybe if I am bored, I'll add a few more later. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... | | | Last edited: by NewEnglander |

| Posted: | | | | With the recent release of 'Rock Band', I am finally going to take the plunge and get a 360. I have been interested in playing Halo, Gears of War and Bioshock...but with the release of 'Rock Band', something I can play with my kids, I have decided to take the plunge. Now if I can just convince my wife to let me play with it before Christmas. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
