Ooooo...forum rules:

"You may not use the Invelos forums to:

    * Impersonate a representative of Invelos, or make claims of "inside information" related to Invelos as a company, or Invelos products."

How many times have you done that, Skip? Don't lecture about rules unless you follow them.

And yes, it is pathetic, but every so often Skip needs to be called to account in regards to his treatment of people.

You did Skip, by starting this thread. You made what should have been a private discussion public. Don't complain.

Never have, never will, and when anyone has asked that question they always get told I am not. But, John, do you really feel it necessary to continue this. You are not perfect, sir and you have no business trying to judge me or anyone else.

OK john you leave me no choice, this but one of several i have received.

Hi, Skip.

I saw your post in the forums for JohnD regarding one of his profiles.

I just had an unpleasant PM session with JohnD, regarding one of his profiles which I voted No to because he didn't name a source for his cast and crew data. He then sent me a PM saying that the source was "the disc itself", but that he didn't really have to name a source since there was no cast and crew in the existing profile, so he didn't really make any "corrections".

I PM'ed him back and said that of course he needs to name his source, even if the existing profile is blank. His attitude made me suspicious, so I decided to check the actual credits on the disc myself, and found out that his contribution was NOT as credited like he said in his PM, but instead was IMDB data. I therefore included in my PM that I did not appreciate him telling me he had used the disc as source when this was not the case, and told him that the user database relies on contributors being honest in their contribution notes and PMs, something he obviously is not.

He then replied saying that the cast and crew data was taken from the existing IVS profile, and that since it was accepted into the IVS database it should also be accepted into the Invelos database, even though the data was incorrect. He also said that my behaviour was rude and unacceptable, and that I was a coward hiding behind internet anonymity while insulting him (!). I replied that I don't consider myself rude for catching him in a lie, and told him to either withdraw the profile and keep it local, or accept my No vote and see if the profile was accepted despite my vote. I told him that if he had said in the first place that the source was the IVS database and not "the disc" then I of course wouldn't have claimed that he wasn't to be trusted. I also said that I wasn't interested in being insulted anymore by him, and that I wouldn't answer any more of his PMs. He then proceeded to block me from sending any more PMs to him.

What's this guy's problem?

More please Skip. I love how you seem to have to make private conversations public, as well as out of context. Behemot is the only person I have ever blocked, but I have a poor tolerance for rudeness.

Once again you set yourself up as some sort of arbiter on these forums. You are not. Don't pretend to be.

BTW, posting Behemot's private message in a public forum now makes it a legally actionable statement. How interesting.

As I recall, Ken specifically stated recently that PMs are not to be made public....that's why they are called PRIVATE Messages.

Some people obviously feel that they are above the direct instructions from the owner of the company.

Pretty unbelievable!

I've PMed Ken about Skip's post, and pointed out the possible dangers of people doing this. Given the recent legal problems, I am sure Ken is very touchy about this side of things.

Just to clarify: I am not proposing to do anything about the post outside this forum, but there are some who would not be as tolerant.

It is quite possible that Skip got permission from the person that PMed him.  I know I have asked Ken for, and gotten, permission to disclose a PM.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
