Create a small team of totally new people (no one from the old team could re-join) and improve the Rules. Target: no rewrite, just tweaks as necessary. Contact to the forum to collect popular opinion on certain issues should be allowed.
I indeed agree, that that would probably work faster. The result may probably not be as popular though. Yeah, but see, that approach is part of the problem. What's 'popular' shouldn't enter into it at all. First priority should be what serves the database best. Modify that with accommodations required by the nature of the movies - the things that make movies a unique art form. The final consideration should be formatting for users. Actually, the last part would be the most apparent to us as users. Using data entry formatting techniques and proper error trapping a lot of the to and fro would be eliminated right from the jump by either rejecting the data outright or automatically reformatting it on entry. But that's how professional database setup is done, and you get paid for doing that kind of thing, and its damn hard work. I don't think many people here have the stomach for it. | | | John

You even see some people who copy out disc IDs... whatever for? They're displayed in their field below. Notes can be concise without losing any information; all that needs to be done is necessary commentary on the changes to be viewed below the notes field, citing sources. Bada-bing. Except that even with adequate notes, submissions often end up rejected for no good reason. People tend to get very specific and cross every t and dot every i on resubs as a result. Nothing wrong with that at all. | | | John

For YOU, I will do it again. We know that Multiple Disc IDs are a possibility. You might overwrite one that has already been submitted, which is OK, what is displayed for Disc ID is irrelevant, however do I need to submit the Disc Id that I have, I don't know...maybe....much easier to decide that IF some user provide s ADEQUATE notes to explain their work. Your version of adequate notes, which to me is NO notes at all, Nadja, 6 months from now when I do a fresh audit on that title tell me nothing AT ALL. They may have seemed adequate, but they aren't later on. Use your head, and think about it Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | While I am also not necessarily for stating every little change in the Notes, I do agree with the Disc-ID. In case an alternate ID replaces the one in the database, then somebody with the "original" audits the profile later. Reading the Contribution Notes he could see, that it is not necessary to submit the ID again, as it has already been captured by Ken. Although, I haven't really seen to many "Disc-ID ping pong". Of course data comes first. With "popular I was merely referring to formatting things, like the Episode lists or Divider numbering. It is important not to loose touch with the user base, something Ken had repeatedly pointed during in the "private" Rules sessions. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.
