As suggested, I'm testing a client-side banner for HD covers that will be optional, and will use user-replaceable graphics.  If and when this is implemented, we would set the rule for HD covers to that of standard DVD covers - the insert only and not the case or banner.

Thoughts?

Sounds like just the job. Thanks.

I think your idea sounds like a winner Ken.  It's the best of both worlds and would be very appreciated by this user.

I liked those.  You might want to shoot Ken a PM to see if he likes them as well.  No point in duplicating the work if those would work for him.

I've completed the images using colors averaged from several profiles, at a high resolution (1000 pixels wide) for those who scan and display at high resolutions.

Would it be possible to preview your banners?

I have to agree, those are VERY nice.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Looking fine IMO, and the idea is fabulous I think, and that's NOT because it comes from Ken, but because it's actually a very reasonable approach.

The only thing that's missing is a black banner with the "DVD Video"-logo.

That's not actually a bad idea. Especially if we can make all 3 banners individually optional. ie I can select to show HD DVD & Blu Ray banners but not DVD etc.

Love the banners Ken! Thanks! My first try at adding the banner after the fact:

What is currently in the online DB!

What is now in my DB (although slightly larger and uncompressed)!

I totally agree. This way both sides win.
