I think the cover size is sufficient. You can see the front cover image and most of the times (I agree that there are exceptions) you can read the back cover text.

And let's not forget: if you want higher resulutions, you can have that. You just have to scan the covers for yourself.

I think the cover size is insufficient. They only cover a fourth of the width of your usual Full HD display, the covers almost look like thumbnails.

We should increase the dimensions (at least) by 50%, vertically approaching the 1080. Accordingly double the allowed file size.

Let's not forget: if you prefer tiny pics, you can still zoom out.

Sure, but one big reason why I have once doled out the money for DVD Profiler was (and I think still is to lot of other user) the fact that you don't have to do it all by yourself.
If I wanted that I could have started a local mySQL-DB back in '98.

Not to mention that the covers are a big point that sets DVD Profiler apart (and ahead) of all the data-scraping competitors.

I get your point. I just don't see the point of bigger cover scans. They use up more space (especially on a seperate website) without conveying more information - IMHO. And you have to be even more vigilant in the scanning and cleaning process.

I scan at 600dpi which usually gives me a picture of ~3400 pixels. I clean it up to the best of my abilities and then resize it down. The resizing process takes care of smaller dirt dirt specks on its own. The large the picture the more imperfections will remain visible.

I believe one of the original reasons for the 500x700 200byte limit on the online servers is that the images would not be suitable for (high-quality) bootlegs - another reason why Invelos doesn't store the spine.

I have to dig out Dr. Killpatient's post from the first page of this thread.

While I would like have a little bit bigger pictures, I think they are sufficient. Especially when higher quality pictures bear the risk of a lawsuit.

Ken should just drop the "high quality" in the advertising.
