Ah, thanks.  It's nice to see some of those old names that left us are still around in some capacity.

I hope AESP returns... he's a good guy, plus, anytime he's ever updated a profile that I share, he's worked his ass off to make sure the data submitted is good and correct. There's few too decent Canadian contributors as is, it would suck if we lost one.

I can understand AESP's decision. In fact, this thread was a joke, and I took it as such. Even so, is this joke just a joke or a message to all users? I remember a thread were I posted a screen capture of the credits of "Barbarella", to illustrate a problem concerning Jean-Claude Forest. This screencapture showed in background some of Jane Fonda's skin (something as horrible as what we can see on beaches where bitches wear monokinis  ). This post was censored by moderators for nudity, but when one user compared another user in several other threads with WWII criminals, they said nothing. This is just an illustration of what is important in the forum moderating system.

Words are just words, and as adults we can choose to read them or not. Pictures are a completely different story. I am NOT in favor of censorship, but when I am on the forums and my grandchildren are sneaking up behind me to give me a surprise, I don't appreciate an unsolicited picture popping up. I would rather pick and choose where and when I see questionable material. I like the questionable stuff just as much as the next guy, but by my choosing.

As a parent with a daughter that comes up behind me all the time I have to agree with this.

As a parent, and a grandparent, I wouldn't have mind this Barbarella photo in front of any of my children or grandchildren... We are not speaking of pornography, just a head (nude...  ),taking half of the photo, then behind we could see the top of breasts (not even nipples)...  . This is just ridiculous.

But be insulted as a war criminel would have chocked each, not speaking that in my country this may be a cause of prosecution.

I'm not just talking about the Barbarella photo, but anything that my 9-year-old grandson or 5-year-old granddaughter might see and ask questions about. They come over every Friday night to stay the night and of course they think I walk on water or at least I think they do. I am an early riser, usually between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m., and as this is my weekend hobby, I spend every Saturday and Sunday morning updating, contributing and reading the forums, whenever possible.

I only have one more thing to say and then I will stop. If Ken had gotten to me and I pulled my membership, so to speak, and I found later that it was just a joke. I would have been one of the first to come back ROFLOL and tell him, that was great, you got me all the way. Look at the fun we had in the beginning of this thread.

Exactly... and the line has to be drawn somewhere on the images. If I was moderator and I didn't have an exact line drawn on such things I would have removed it too... thinking better safe then sorry.  The whole insult thing is entirely different situation then this. As images can be seen by very young kids... causing them to ask questions... making parents deal with things they may not be ready for. Where words may not (as if the kid isn't reading yet). That said of course... if I was a moderator and I saw such insults they would be removed as soon as I seen them as well.

I logged in today and I looked at this thread. Firstly thank you to my good friend Pete who spoke for me and secondly some precisions since my last post was written when I was in a very bad mood. As already explained I have great difficulties to accept the way in which the adult cinema is treated in the database. I think that over the years I have often given my views on the unacceptability of some restrictive particularity that we must undergo. In this chapter I count the false rating that must be used (these dvd are NR, not rated adult), the adult genre which is a false one (plus it creates great confusion for some), the non-appearance of these titles in our list of recent purchases, the great difficulty in submitting the cast distribution of these films (because of the use of multiple aliases or the frequent absence of them and that's when it contains no error),...

It would therefore be evident that I would react very negatively to this "joke" because for me it is clear that the owner would prefer those films to not be present in his database. What I did by stopping to contribute those DVDs and using the database. By cons I found it hypocritical of me to continue to vote while no longer using the database, which is why I deleted my collection on the server. So I did not do this to hide my collection wich is always present at this address.

I did not decide that because of the general atmosphere of the forum, the lack of moderation or the pictures you can post (despite what some may think I find it normal to not post nudity on a forum that young children could watch).

As Terry could confirm I am very easy to provoke when it comes to that subject and I can be very aggressive. This is easily explained by the fact that for me there is no distinction between the types of cinema because of the way I was educated by my parents. For this reason I always have treated these films with the utmost respect in all the critics I have written  through the years on multiple websites and now on my blog.

I hope this long post wasn't too boring, but I wanted to clarify a few points at head rested (which was certainly not the case in my previous post). I am not leaving the forum, but only the database and as I have often said my profiles are available just send me a message to ask (I've never refused a request).

While it doesn't matter to me what titles are in the database, I'm very glad that porn titles are not allowed in the list of recent purchases.

I look at this site from work sometimes because it's a rather safe site, and the last thing I would want to see is the cover for Lucy Has a Ball or Beauty Pageant show up. TBH, even your sig is quite questionable as it certainly borders on NSFW, but that's easily handled for me as I have simply blocked it.

Don't get me wrong, I fully support adult movies, but I don't think Profiler is the place to be showing off the latest purchases and images. If it were adult dvdprofiler (not unlike dvdtalk and adult dvdtalk), it would be different.

Alien I didn't post my message to start a discussion... I posted it to clarified why I don't contribute and don't use the database anymore. My reasons are my reasons and after more than 3 years of wasted times on this I've given up...

If what appeared in my banner isn't safe where you work I'm more than happy to not work there...

Sorry,
I see it exactly the other way (and I don't even own a single porn DVD).
This is DVDProfiler and not Only-The-DVDs-I-Consider-To-Be-Political-Correct-Profiler.

There are many DVDs that have content which I consider to be highly annoying (This starts with the latest "Pilates for Beginners" and ends with some racistic content), but for not having to see this, there's quite an easy solution:
Don't look at it!
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

While I personally agree with you, I can see it from Ken's perspective. He's running a business that caters to people from all over the world. Some countries have stricter rules regarding this sort of subject matter. I personally think he's done his best to accommodate those who do have those in their collection. The only slight 'improvement' I can think of is to allow them in the recent purchases but give users an extra option in their control panels to show/hide them.

Like Alien, I've got the ability to remove the signatures but not everyone can & since they're outside of Invelos' authority, we can't pick and choose what's visible there. In that situation it's not as simple as "Don't look at it!" as it's on all of that user's posts.

That's exactly what I use. However, I also know people who, for various reasons, won't use Firefox.
