Well, what it boils down to is that certain people are going to take the opposite tack whenever Skip or I suggest something - good, bad, or indifferent.  Experience in how a database works, how to manipulate data, and the rest is an important part of figuring out how to profile these things.

Have you read TigHof's explanation of Skip's contribution?

Yeah.  I don't agree with the method Skip proposed that Tigi is commenting on.  You see that "good, bad, or indifferent" part up there?  That covers Skip, the rest covers Tigi.  At least Skip has tried to come up with a solution, however.

The bottom line is we don't have a way to profile a megaset without making concessions to the rules as they stand now.  Simply can't be done.  And we can't make those concessions because some people have this rabid fixation on following the rules to the letter.  The BEST solution at this point is to say "DO NOT PROFILE MEGA BOXSETS AT THIS TIME BECAUSE THE PROGRAM IS LACKING SOME MAJOR UPGRADES REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE THEM PROPERLY."

Now you have me confused...

We should just agree with Skip or you sometimes, even you do something bad, so it wouldn't appear we "always disagree"...?

It doesn't matter WHAT either of us says, the others take the opposite tack.  In other words, even when we're right, we're wrong.

I can assure you that this is not true for me. I'm not the type of guy who wants to block anything (I always try to be constructive) or who, for personal reasons, states the opposite of what a particular user suggests. For example, I have a lot of respect for Skip and have defended him more than once in the past.

However, when it comes to the current TV series discussions, it is obvious that we have fundamentally different opinions. While I don't need child profiles for TV series and find them totally superfluous (just like a majority of Profiler users, as the poll about this showed), he is a fanatic supporter for them. That is fine with me, as long we're having a fair discussion. But since he began arguing that having cast and crew etc. in parent profiles is utter nonsense for database design and consistency reasons - practically characterizing everyone as an idiot who does not agree with his opinion - I have to say, this ends here.

First of all the problem has absolutely nothing to do with database design but is a mere business contraint, created by a majority of voters. Most people want cast and crew for TV series parent profiles but not for "mega sets". Period! Second, he now even tries to impose his ideas on the database (using "North and South" as a test balloon) without the slightest backup by the rules or by a forum decision. And that is a point were he has to be stopped.

Nobody has ever said you don't know anything.  What we say is it doesn't matter what you know or how you think it should be done.  This database was designed by Ken.  We will do things the way he says they can be done.  If we come up with an idea and he say it is workable, then it is workable.  If he says it isn't, then it isn't.

There's always more than one way to get from A to B, but there are a whole lot more ways to blow it all up if you don't know what you're doing.  I've gotten to the point where I don't much care any more, because they're so dead set on doing it their way, they have lost all sense of logic and perspective.  They just can't seem to understand that it isn't how the data is entered and stored, but how you format it in the output that counts.

The part I bolded should also be applied to you.  You are so sure that your way is the only correct way that you have lost all sense of logic and perspective.  You are antagonistic and insulting for no other reason than people dared to disagree with you.  I am sorry, but this is not your db and you don't get to decide what is and isn't allowed.  That job belongs to Ken.

Edit:  I am not trying to be antagonistic...though it will probably be taken that way...but this is really starting to get old.

You are one of the few here who will actually argue a point logically and I appreciate that. Many of the others do not seem to be applying any logic, at least none that I can recognize, instead seem to be coming from some area of personal wishes, or creating a straw man argument that counters a prior argument, like 275 episodes of MASH. And the typical proof of the lack of logic is that when they can't defeat the logic, they resort to insults, and then everything goes to hell in a hurry.

I have said this before in many of these discussions, I don't really care one way or the other. There are oh I guess one or two issues which REALLY matter to me, and which those are is my business and does not change the way I argue a point. I welcome debate and discussion, and sometimes I gain valuable insights from them, I have a suggestion from a user right now that I am planning to explore in the next couple of days and see if it works, it certainly has promise.
