Just a simple question. How can we know that a dvd that we have is a re-edition ? I have to withdraw an image contribution that I made because of that, but nothing on the dvd or, in this case in particular, the SWV site say that a previous version exist.

I don't want to release bad profile in the datase so anything about that can help me. Thanks.

Before you contribute a profile, do a search of the online database to see if there is already a profile out there.  You can also check contribution notes to see what others did.

Basically, though, a reissue is a DVD with the same UPC, but different artwork and maybe different features on disc.  The original profile for that UPC takes precedence.  If the UPC is different (even if everything else is identical) then you can contribute that profile to document the UPC number.

I always refresh my profile before I make a contribution. I know that the contribution history is the best way to know, but since the database is new the majority of the title have no real history. The veteran user are here to point the error but it's not funny to look stupid

Don't worry about it.  We all put our pants on one leg at a time, and we've all screwed up.  Everybody had to start out as a newbie, so just do your best and don't worry about it.

Gotta agree with Rifter.  Not knowing doesn't make you look stupid.  It was an honest mistake and one a LOT of us have made.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

This is all to do with me. Sorry, but I explained in my vote why I voted no; you shouldn't take it personally as I think you seem to be. I don't expect anyone to know the complete history of a dvd release. I don't myself. In this case I knew the image was of a later release.

I did a contribution a few days ago that received a 'no' vote because of a prior edition I was unaware of. No big deal. I just withdrew it.

Kevin, I don't take it personally at all since you're right that's why I withdraw it. Sure it could be usefull if there is a place that list previous edition with cover.
By the way I follow your advise and I keep a print copy of the rules for reference on my desk.
