| Posted: | | | | Should Genres be included in the parent profile of a box set? The rules don't say to remove Genres from the profile, but they don't give any clarification on what to include in Genres either.
Personally I think that the main profile of a box set should be stripped of Genres, same as Audio Formats and Features, since the movies in the box set may be of different genres, and since the child profiles already have Genres listed, making it superfluous in the main profile. |

| Posted: | | | | Although I agree in principle, what worries me is that we're going to end up taking so much out, there ain't going to be much left in a box set profile! It wouldn't be a problem if maybe they displayed differently in the program, but at the moment you end up with big windows of nothing being displayed. It seems a shame to start removing what little is left. |

It seems a shame to start removing what little is left. Well, I thought about that too. But in a way, these profiles are just like their cardboard counterparts. Once you remove the DVDs, there is not much to them anymore I think I will shortly remove more and more from them (locally, of course), so that only the information remains which describes the "shell". | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. The problem is we don't want to go down the road where sometimes you do add data and sometimes you don't. Especially with genres. That would be a constant battle with people having their own ideas of what belongs in the profile. If you say NO boxsets should have genres assigned, then it's nice and simple and will avoid people constantly contributing profiles over and over trying to force their opinion into the database. I have no problem with nearly blank profiles for boxsets. As Achim pointed out, it's no different from the empty physical box. There's really not much to them. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

Any information that is appropriate to the entire set will still be in the master. Think of the master profile as the tabbed card in a file that shows "the information begins behind me". | | | John

| Posted: | | | | p, Behemot. A Box can have multiple movies from multiple Genre, so they should not be part of the Box but belong to the children. | Posted: | | | | Personally, of they are all the same genre (say a trilogy) I am happy that the parent profile has a genre of them all; if they are a total mix (please someone tell me why they are being sold together!) then I would leave it blank. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
