Some want the banners
Some don't want them.
Others want the entire cover

Option A: No Banner

Option B: Yes Banner

Option C: Entire Case

Is this poll 2.5?

Option B is what we've been doing. There are hundreds of scans like it in the db already.

For HD DVDs that are not combos, the black band would not be present either.

There are slipcovers for 2 HD DVDs so far that I know of (Planet Earth and 40-Year Old Virgin) which include the banner as part of an outer slipcover.

I voted for B.

There are a great many of option C images in the data base as well. Just ask Erik.

I think those are more prevalent on the Blu-ray side.

I thought it was obvious but the poll applies to both high def formats.

Yes, it's obvious.

The "what we've been doing" comment was a sloppy reference to those with whom I communicate on the HD DVD side of things.

Carry on...

Peeking through the database I have seen a lot of option A and B. I've seen even more C and mostly I've seen lower resolution variants of C which have been obviously copied from some websites. And then there are a not ignorable count of HD profiles without any cover at all.

I guess try as we might, my friends and I can't own everything.

This is what I see as well. In my experiences, I too, have seen more of the full case images taken from other sites than anything else. All, very low resolution.

I've submitted a slew of new scans replacing the case scans with a banner and they're all getting nothing but yes votes except for one and that is because they think the original cover scan (just the cover scan) is better.

Glad to hear it. The "HD" profiles are looking pretty bad.

Dan,

Talk about bias - Your "Option A: No Banner" picture example has a built-in black format banner.
Why don't you show an example of what the major majority of HD covers will look like  without the format information on top.

That's the funniest accusation I've seen in weeks. I suppose you're going to accuse the studio as well.

No, I'm accusing you.

You picked a picture for an example of "Option A: No Banner" that just happens to have all the format information on it, which is the principle reason why the "Banner" is needed for all the HD covers that do not have format information on the cover.

I hope you feel as ridiculous typing that as the accusation is.

I don't feel ridiculous at all.  It's there for everyone to see.
