First let me say I know the rules, so no need for anyone to point to them .
I have a boxset for all Ginger Snaps movies. The child profiles were labeled like "Ginger Snaps: Deel I" etc... (Deel = Part) with the Original Title field filled in correctly. These titles however came from the labels on the disks. The box itself however says "Ginger Snaps I" etc... And of course the movies are just "Ginger Snaps", "Ginger Snaps: Unleashed" etc...
Now, the existing profile was wrong, I think. But someone did a submission changing the Titles to the original titles (emptying the Original Title field). I voted no, and I believe there was 1 Yes vote. The submission however got accepted.
IMHO however, I still think we should get the titles from the box cover (if they are there), so the correct titles should in fact be "Ginger Snaps I" etc... with the Original Title filled in.
What do you guys think ?

Edit: some clarification. I am indeed talking about a boxset where the individual children don't have their own box and thus no cover art. In this concrete case, it is a 4-disk Digipak with a Slipcover. The slipcover has a list of the 4 disks (as can also clearly be seen on the front cover scan - which, by the rules, is also used in the children) : "Ginger Snaps I", "Ginger Snaps II", "Ginger Snaps III", "Bonus Disk". The disks themselves have slightly different wording : "Ginger Snaps: Deel I", "Ginger Snaps: Deel II", etc... while the actual movies are simply "Ginger Snaps", "Ginger Snaps: Unleashed", ...

The title that we must enter is the one on the movie case for me it seems evident. But, if I understand corectly, the boxset have 3 individual disc with no case (just like the Universal double feature) for something like that I go with is print on each disc.

I usually  take the title from the credits (some exceptions given by the rules) and put the box set name into the edition.

If I understood the question correctly and assume correctly, that this is an R2 release, then I would say:

Title: Ginger Snaps I (cover)
Original Title: Ginger Snaps

I don't have this set, so can't say for certain, but I think I had a similar situation with a Masters Of Horror boxset a short while ago.
What I did there was put the title from the credits in "Title", left original title blank and used the sort title to keep them in order.
So in this case I would put "Ginger Snaps" in "Title", original title blank, and "Ginger Snaps 1" in sort title and so on.

Actually Repter is right i think.

The title for the RELEASE is as it is printed on the cover  and if not available, the disc.
The original title should be put in the designated field.

But it is a bit confusing as many people use the title under which it was officially released in their country. I think thats not correct and the title of the release should prevail.

Note: not so long ago there has been a very large discussion on the title/original title issue.

The Boxset title comes from the DVD cover.  The individual movies come from the actal film credits.

Not for foreign films... And from how I read the initial post, the discussion is about a foreign film.

And even if it were not for a foreign movie, the discussion would still be valid, although we again risk ending up in that fight over Title vs Original Title.
If the box says "Back to the Future 1" even though we know it is just "Back to the Future" I still think we should take the former as 'title' and put the latter in the 'original title'.

Didn't catch that.

The "foreign film" rule applies to all foreign films.

For non-foreign films, the only title that comes from the cover is the boxset title.
