| Posted: | | | | So, since it appears that no one wants this incorporated into the DVD Profiler, does anyone know of a program that does this?
We have a bunch of games, from several consoles. It'd be great to have something like DVDP to track them. I've never found a use for the 'loan' option for DVDs, but it would be great for Games. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with the name "DVD Profiler" being irrelevant - of course it is. Just think what would have happened if DVD Profiler was some years older and named "VHS Profiler". Refusing to include new media and/or change the name would obviously not have been a good idea for such a product, and just as obvious the time will come for DVD Profiler (well, has come, we are already including BluRay and HD-DVD).
But the main thing people voting for inclusion of games have to understand is that programming is VERY time consuming, and time is the limiting factor on any development.
While most of us here agree DVD Profiler is pretty much the best program in it's area we also acknowledge that it has severe shortcomings - simply because it would be impossible timewise to implement the perfect program at once - specifically given that Ken is the only developer on the product.
You might think that when we take the best product for managing DVD movies and adding support for managing game collections the result would be that we have the best program to manage DVD movies AND games. But this is simply not how it works (unfortunately).
The time spend implementing support for games (and hendling contributions etc) would be taken from further development of the features we need to manage DVD collections. There is no choice, time is limited you just can't do both when there are only 24 hours a day.
So indstead of getting the best movie collection software and the best game collection software, we would end up with a average DVD movie collection software and average game collection software. Most of us would not appreciate this, specifically not as we already have alternatives to manageing the games.
If this is what you want, of course feel free to vote yes, along as you realize that this means you are voting to downprioritize DVD movies. | | | Regards Lars | | | Last edited: by lmoelleb |

| Posted: | | | | Agree 100%
And to expand on your oppinion : If this software is as good as it is, it's probably because Ken love and collect DVD himself that's why he create it at first. If he doesn't care about video game why would he lost his time developing a game profiler? Just think about this ... |

I'd like to have all my games, blue-rays and dvds in one program, DVD Profiler. Makes it easier to remember who borrowed what. However, I wouldn't like to mix games and movie collections and would prefer tabs; one for dvd, blue-rays, ps3 and so on.
I'd also like to include PC games as I'm sure I'm not the only one who plays on several platforms.
lmoelleb makes a good point in his post (including games in dvd profiler will affect the movie side of the program), and if the game thing doesn't happen, can anyone recommend a program that does the same as DVD Profiler for games? | | | Last edited: by eirikask |

| Posted: | | | | Not a program, but a website... IGN allows you to track games across multiple platforms. I've no personal interest in using it for movies, but I think (R1) DVDs are also listed. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |
