The UPC/EAN of the contributed cover scan does not match the profile's UPC/EAN

I've recently made several contributions, which have all been just Cover Scans.  Some for entries where the original entry has two front covers and no back cover, or the resolution is so low you can scarcely read the back cover.  Anyway, two of my recent contributions (Bold Affair and Final Destination 2) were declined for the following reason: The UPC/EAN of the contributed cover scan does not match the profile's UPC/EAN

I thought it was a Voting and/or Contribution Panel that decided, but it seemed to be an automated "decline", because my UPC didn't match the original one.  First of all, I don't understand why the UPC's would be different, because they were clearly the same/correct movies.  Bold Affair was one of those that had two front covers and no back cover.  I was surprised it was declined, because I contributed the correct back cover.

Is there a way I can contribute these scans, even though my UPC doesn't match the original one?  Do I just need to fake my UPC to match the original contribution, or something?

Also, why do contributions with two front cover scans get accepted to begin with?  I think the first contributions of Shrek the Third and The Wire Season 4 were like that (I contributed a corrected Wire Season 4 back cover scan)?

Mike:

Read the Rules they specifically state that the UPC of of the image MUST match the Profile. If it doesn't then it shoul;d be declined everytime. If you have a UPC that is NOT listed yet...then the answer is obvious. Create a Profile to match your cover. This isn't hard, my friend.

As for two front scans, once again a reading will answer the question. Most times in the pre-release period the ONLY available artwork is that of the front. Therefore....

yup... there is many times that a title is released with more then 1 upc number... that is nothing strange. And as Skip said.. the rules say you must have scan to match the profile. In your case they were the wrong scans for the profile you tried to update. Best bet is to either download the profile that matches your release or if it don't exist you must submit the profile for the release you have.

The covers must match the profile exactly, including the UPC and locality.

as for the 2 back scans... that is how it is done per rules...

Do not contribute generic "Coming Soon" images. If the back image is not yet available (as in a pre-release), use the front images in both places.

So going by everything I read... they should have been declined.

Not meaning to beat a dead horse or rain on either Skip or Pete's parade, if the UPC on the back cover you submitted didn't match the UPC of the profile you were contributing, it was not THE CORRECT BACK COVER. To be the correct cover it MUST match the UPC.
