| Posted: | | | | Hi,
it would be great if we could have some form of sharing corner where contributed and accepted information can be offered for different versions of the same DVD. Why should every locality do the same work of typing the same end credits into DVD Profiler? But how to find a profile where that work has already been done?
Another example. It is widely known that the season packs of Star Trek TOS, TNG and DS9 are identical throughout Europe. Two of the german DS9 discs are cut because the british BBFC demanded it. So if they are identical, why not share things like running times, credits and so on. The problem is, I know that I checked the running time of the german TNG and DS9 and the british TOS and thus know they are correct now. But what if someone ownes the german TOS version? Should he do my work again? But where should he know that I did it on the british TOS discs?
I imagine some form of forum where every original title gets a thread and users can publish things like cast lists and so on. I know running times are a critical thing because of cut versions and PAL/NTSC, but sometimes it is known (as in case of the Trek DVDs) that they are identical. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Agreed. Reference profiles, as I called them seem to be a good idea. The references could be published in a pinned thread. This includes the disadvantage that only the threadstarter can do this effectively, because the accepted profiles should be in the first posting. The other possibility would be a listing at DVDProfilerWiki.org. There are only three problems here: 1. Who decides which profile can be a reference? 2. What happens if such a profile needs to be changed (common name changed or uncredited cast changed? 3. Should all users be allowed to make changes and if yes, should at least the documentation be harder (screenshots)? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
