| Posted: | | | | I also like to note some idiot arguments i had a while back about how Blu-ray will only benefit a small amount of films namely titles of action adventure orientation.
Close but no where near as funny as Blu-ray being the laser disc of our time.
It still impresses me as the years gather on, Blu-ray takes hold and it's technology is slowly starting to be exploited to it's full potentiality how much more satisfied i feel in adopting most of my film purchasing to Blu-ray from a rather early stage in it's life.
And now i feel im reaping the benefits and getting amazing films with pretty much definitive transfers and with each piece of news like this all i can say to those ppl is i told you so. |

| Posted: | | | | I think classic films are the most rewarding to buy in high-def. You know the latest blockbusters are going to look great (even if they suck as films) but when you see a film 50-60 years old looking like new again you're ready to weep in joy. |

Exactly like the Godfather Coppola restoration. How the hell after seeing that on Blu-ray would you ever watch those films on DVD again. |

I haven't yet had the pleasure of seeing these on Blu-Ray, but am dying to do so. #'s 1 and 2 are among my favorite films of all time (actually, The Godfather IS my favorite) BTW, I'm also happy to see African Queen coming to Blu-Ray. Definitely a day one buy. | | | http://www.dvdinfatuation.com | | | Last edited: by dbjb6972 |

BTW, I'm also happy to see African Queen coming to Blu-Ray. Definitely a day one buy. The first 2 Godfather films are being brought out on single releases as part of Paramount's sapphire series feb 02. I don't see many deals on these there both priced at $23.99 at Amazon. Your just best getting the complete set which is now under $50 and comes with a tone of HD extras and all the extras from the previous DVD. Including a great featurette about the restoration of Godfather 1 by Lowery Digital. The 1st one is also my fav and have had my fare share of arguments about it lol A lot of ppl think the second had the better story with the contrast of a family on the rise and a family on the fall and a more complicated plot. While the second is a classic i don't find it to be as solid a piece as it's predecessor. Godfather 1 was just all around better blend of drama execution and cinematography. It's overall story that never left you hanging for a min seamlessly and naturally flowing from one act to another it's just flawless as you can get. The problem i find with Godfather 2 is it's overall pacing just seems slow sometimes and perhaps this is due to the fact they had two story's working off each other they just never got the mix entirely right. I don't fault it's ambition as a film but no matter how often i watch it i just can't help but think im watching something which is less formed. Still it's hard to be critical about Godfather 2. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |
