| Posted: | | | | It's nice that we have custom categories now, but to get more out of them I would like if we could:
- Add one profile to several custom categories, in example, TV and Blu-Ray. - Along with hiding the All, it would be nice if we could re-order the built-in categories. I'd like to put my wishlist and ordered after my owned custom categories. |

| Posted: | | | | Question and food for thought: Are we really heading towards "a tab for each attribute"? It seems to me that a lot of what people are using custom categories for is to get a view of the data, from the perspective of one or more attributes. This is usually accomplished with a filter. In my opinion, putting a profile into a bunch of tabs primarily to facilitate a view will eventually lead to confusion and complexity. In one sense there can never be enough tabs - but I also can envision that there can be too many to manage. For my purposes I use MyTools plugin to invoke a filter whenever I want to temporarily view my collection in a different way. It is not blitz fast, but not too bad. What WOULD be blitz fast, is if Ken would add that feature (one-click filter). In my opinion, that would be a lot less confusing and useful than having a bunch more collections.

| Posted: | | | | I use a combination. Custom collections for the big categories (Blu-ray, HD DVD, TV) and tags for the little things (Criterion, Holidays, Hitchcock).
I have no problem managing things. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | What I'd like to see is the ability to assign a set filter to a custom collection tab.
For example, I'd like a tab for Unwatched Films. If I could create and save a filter (Genre NOT Television and Not Watched) and then assign that filter to the tab, the results would be automatic.
Just a thought.... |

Just a thought.... Yes, yes, yes. That's what I've been trying to say. In fact, that was the design of "MyTabs" plugin. It was too slow and too complicated, but that is what I was hoping Ken would implement. I had put together a spreadsheet with all the options and was about to publish a scholarly dissertation - and here you go nail it with one simple sentence ... I think some people do actually want physical partitioning. But many of the requirements I've seen would be satisfied by having a dynamic view, i.e. filter, applied to the data whenever a tab is selected. | | | Thanks for your support.
