Looking forward to somebodys help! does the desktop dvd profiler show at the bottom of the screen "Shared on 'aaaaaaaaaaaaa' (192.168.2.2) port 32847: 1 connected" where aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa is the name of the PC and (in my case) my local Pc is 192.168.2.2 - yours could be different? I have always used the IP address (not the name) to connect from my ipod touch to the PC. if the ipod is connected then it says 1 connected, if it's just listening it's 0 connected. things to check: do you have a firewall - is the connection from the ipod being blocked? The firewall could include - microsoft firewall, any Antivirus firewall? | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | I was having this problem as well. I was able to add about 80 DVDs at first then got the message "unable to send changes". I read the forums and decided to delete my data base and start over thinking I had a corrupted file. I was able to get about 125 and then got the same message again. I could not figure out what was going on and all of the recommendations from the forums didn’t seem to help. I decided to start over but on this third time, I would only scan about 4 or 5 DVDs with my iPhone and then updated the database. The thought was that if I got the message again I could go back and delete the previously added DVDs. This seemed to do the trick. I scan about 4 or 5 DVDs and update the database. So far I am at about 400 DVDs and haven’t had any problems. I think maybe when I would scan like a 100 DVDs at a time and tried to update the database, the file was so large, the program couldn’t handle it. That’s just my theory but it seems to have helped cutting down on how many DVDs I scan and upload at one time. |

| Posted: | | | | Just as an update, I have scanned in over 700 DVD's as I described in my previous post and havent had any major glitches. I was wondering about the connection timing out as well. I am not sure if this would be a program issue or a network issue(??) I did backup my database after about every 20 or so DVD's just in case I had a glitch, I wouldnt have to start all over. |

| Posted: | | | | I can't seem to update my collection my iPod touch as well. I had set it up and it was working from day one, but now all of a sudden it doesn't want to connect. I keep getting: "Unable to connect. Please ensure that DVD Profiler is running and that sharing is active." Profiler is running, but it doesn't want to talk to my iPod touch anymore. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | Similar issue for me really. Having bought the DVD Profiler for Ios app and using the unregistered version for the time being, i am not hit with the "unable to update" bug.
DVD Profiler PC shows me that there is a connection to the Ios version, and actually, per time that I try to connect from my IPhone, the number of connections goes up one. So after trying to update the database 3 times, it now says that there are 4 connections.
This is worthless. Restarting my Iphone does not help, neither does restarting the PC version. I was working fine until this evening, and now the update function is completely FUBAR. I would hate to have to rescan everything I scanned today, so any suggestion is appreciated. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm seeing the same problem. It was working fine on my last update a few days ago, and now it says 'Unable to send changes'. If I try to connect multiple times, the message in the PC software changes to 2 connected, 3 connected, and so on. Just scanned in a whole bunch of dvds and then tried to update.
I have the registered version of the PC software. |

I am using the computer name, and the correct port. As soon as "sending changes" is tried, the pop-up "Unable to send changes" pops up, ending the process.
As Jkmack points out, this also happens with the Registered version of the PC program, so I am assuming this is some bad coding on the side of the Ios app.
Please fix this, or I will have to switch to a different software solution. |

| Posted: | | | | Instead of letting the router's DHCP setting attribute a random IP address to your PC, you can try setting a fixed IP address for your PC. Also don't forget to open the necessary port (you can set this in DVDP) for that fixed IP address in your router settings.
If you use DHCP, you might run into trouble: Let's say your PC has an IP address that ends in .2 So for that address, you open the required port Next time you boot up, your PC has an IP address that ends in .3. Now that port won't be open on your PC.
That's why I would work with fixed IP address: the correct ports per device are always open and you don't run the risk of having conflicts.
My setup is done as such and that works wonders. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies | | | Last edited: by Taro |

I have tried both using the Computer Name and the IP address. The port is set to default on both devices. I also never had a problem with the updates until yesterday.
In other words, it was working fine until yesterday. I think there is some bug that prevents the Ios App from connecting properly. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe this helps to understand the problem:
I can connect without any problems from my ipod touch. I use the same settings on that that i also have on my iphone. I cannot connect with my I phone. If I try, "Unable to connect" pops up immediately. The difference between my desktop DB and my Iphone DB is about 80 entries (389, 469). I would hate having to scan all of that again.
Please help me fix this problem. |

| Posted: | | | | Well I fixed my update issue. I decided to do an update of the program to latest beta and now my iPod can connect to the desktop program. Wish everything was that simple. | | | We're on a mission from God.
