I'm curious as to how folks are entering bundled sets, Entire TV series sold as a bundle.  As an example, I just purchased the complete Star Trek: The Next Generation Seasons 1-7 from Amazon.com.  Should I enter each season individually using the UPC on each box or enter them as a bundle using the UPC from Amazon?

This is covered by the rules:
Quote:
Note: In rare cases where multiple Complete TV Series are packaged together, the Box-set rules can be applied, treating each series like a single film - applying the above rules for it’s individual profile.

The package is entered as a boxset, using the UPC as sold, then each season has a single profile per the rules - created by UPC if they have them (which your post suggest they do), or by first disc ID.

No need for grandchildren.

Polls are purely a representation of the forum users thoughts - not a guarentee of a change to rules. Only Ken/Gerri can decide to change the rules - please point me to their post to the effect that they are going to. Good Luck

It is a fact that there is no need for grandchildren to enter this set accurately within the current rules.

Not in this case, but it doesn't change the fact that we need grandchildren. I have a movie boxset where some DVD's have two movies. For example The Russ Meyer colletion UK, 17 movies on 12 DVDs. Impossible to contribute correctly without grandchildren.

Under the CURRENT Rules, Lopek is exactly correct.

If you would like some perspective on the "TV Set Prototype", the new "TV Set handling coming in v2.6" or the "grandchildren profiles coming soon", feel free to peruse the old IVS forums from July and August of 2005 when Skip was heralding their imminent arrival!

Almost two years later, and we're still hearing the same old song!

Thanks for the input guys.

I'll set up a Parent Box Set profile for the entire package with the UPC from Amazon.  Then set up child profiles for each season.  The cover images for the Parent profile is gonna be a bi&#h .

Start with a digital camera

I like the iso view for large box sets such as this. If it were in my Db I would use something very similar to what you posted above.

Agreed. I see no benefit in scanning this kind of set, the promo images are always far better. I always use them in my local database.

I think that the rules should be changed to allow the promo-pictures to be used if they are available (and there are no copyright issues).

We don't know that the rules are going to change.  All we know is some people want them to change and others don't.  You are correct, since this would require a program change, we are waiting to hear from Ken one way or the other.

Actually, he was correct.  Under the current rules, there is no need for granchildren profiles.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
