| Posted: | | | | Is there a way to automatically recalculate the sort title?
With the recent changes for variants I am finding the sort title is not updated when a profile is split into two. For example "Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection" had a number of profiles with multiple movies on a single disk. I have had to manually update the sort title on all the original profiles.
Another thing I noticed is that the sort title field's initial value seems to be calculated differently now. For example "Die Another Day" had it's whole title as the sort title originally. When the variant downloaded the sort title defaulted to "Another Day".
Thanks, Tom |

Thanks, Tom I may be wrong.. but isn't the Sort title from the original contributor? I don't believe it is calculated. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

No. It's "calculated" from the title at the moment you add this title to your collection. What Ken is basically doing is cutting off the "The, A, An" at the beginning and some other select articles from other languages, like "Der, Das, Ein, Eine" in German but (for obvious reasons) not "Die". | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I see the issue with Die being removed from the sort title was fixed. However, I am still stuck with my original issue of I now have a number of incorrect sort titles. I have manually fixed the ones I could find but still would like a way to say "Erase the existing sort titles and recreate them using current defaults"
Any ideas?

| Posted: | | | | Sort title is (after initial contribution) a local only field... so they all would have to be changed manually. | | | Pete |

So full automatic is out of the window, and BulkEdit is the way to go. I'd filter/flag all title I suspect to to have fracked-up sort titles and load those into bulk edit. Depending on number of titles you either c&p each entry manually or copy "Title" into "Sort Title" and afterwards replace the known candidates like 'The ', 'A ' etc pp at the beginning(!) of the data cell. And as always: Backup beforehand! | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
