With newish streaming services such as Disney whom are consolidating their IP and are unlikely to unlist any media on their own platform, I've started limiting myself to purchasing movies that aren't available or unlikely to be available on streaming services in the foreseeable future without an additional cost for mostly the same reason - I've relaxed my "More BITS!" stance. Likewise why I've lost interested in 3D, when you're lost in the movie, you're not paying attention to such details.

I would love to know what is the fate of Ken Cole, if for no other reason than (I am assuming here) he is the owner of the Source Code and therefore would be the only one whom could turn over the reins to someone, anyone else to continue the work. Can anyone shed light on what is to become of this program? I have yet to find an acceptable replacement and I will eventually need a new phone. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

I don't know if anyone other then Ken knows what the future holds for DVDProfiler.  As of this stage it is still installable on all phones (?), its still in the Apple App store, and I believe you can install it from one of the stores on Android?  So swapping phones at this stage still isn't too inconvenient.

I haven't found any other alternative that I like, especially ones that are not subscription based.  Everything seems to be going this way, and all the other alternatives just don't have the Value. I have too many subscriptions as it is.  Especially Collectorz - they are the worst of them all.  If you want unethical companies, with CEOs of bad repute or attitude, that like to change their agreement and start charging their users who bought lifetime licenses, delete any criticisms they can without dealing with the issues, who rely on their yearly subscriptions, Collectorz is the one to avoid IMHO.

However, i'd happily support Ken to continue this in some way.

I wholeheartedly agree but there needs to be some word. Do we know if he is still even alive? I wouldn't have an issue with a modest subscription fee (and yes I too have a lifetime license) as the service is worth it but to attract new users the program needs regular updates, even if it just a minor facelift. I only hope and pray that Ken gets this message and knows that we want and need to hear from him. I am here to state that I would willingly give up the "lifetime" license for continuing support of this product. I don't make that statement lightly but this is a product worth paying for and every time me or the wife change phones we buy a new "mobile" app without qualm or complaint.

Agree with all. For the record I have emailed Ken several times over the years inquiring about the possibility of  some kind of collaboration with a group of users to help with funding or a fee for access to some of the technology (online API - more powerful than plugin access), but never got any response.
Thanks for your support.

As far as the general public goes they really can't tell the difference... This could also be why DVD's are still out-selling Bluray/4K disks... which for i'd say, for all of us here, is just ludicrous.. why would you buy a DVD when you can get a 4K disk?  But it is happening, DVD sales are still stupid high.

I work in a shop that buys/sells used DVDs/blu-rays/4Ks.  Reasons I often hear for buying DVDs rather than HD media:
- Cost (DVDs are generally cheaper)
- I don't own a blu-ray player (the older the customer, the more likely this is)
- I'll take it on either format, I just want to watch the movie (we get a lot more DVDs, and have a wider selection of movies in that format, than in blu-ray)

While DVD sales aren't what they were at their height, we still do decently with them, though we're getting so many (mostly) younger people who are either ditching collections or liquidating estates that the most common films are so overstocked that I have grab bags of DVDs 20 for $10.  (My easiest description for what we're overstocked on is to say, "was it ever sold in a bargain bin in Wal-Mart, if so we're overstocked")
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

We're back again!

We're up and down more than Star Trek movies.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...
