The duplicate movie records on the PDA is technically a bug and can most likely be resolved with a select distinct SQL.  That shouldn't be a limiting factor on this.

Instead of duplicating the top-billed actors at the beginning (or moving them there), I'd like to see a new checkbox similar to the uncredited and the voice only checkboxes. This way reports and movie pick could get this data while it would be much simpler to enter the data and formulate a rule.

If the film credits list twice an actor, why can't we do the same?

I see that "No" votes are prevailing. Fair enough, maybe such a change would upset many people. Still, I have a feeling that the complexity of the update is being overestimated. Option #1 would mean that you copy cast members exactly as as they are: first the actors in the opening credits, then those in end credits. That's it. If there are "duplicates", it's because they are there in the credits.
It's always said that we should profile the data exactly as they are in film credits: let's do it!

As to the existent profiles (with cast from the end credits only), all you would have to do is addm, on top of it, the top-billed actors from the opening titles.

That way, you would have feature actors first, just like they are in film credits, and just like the studios wanted them, and see the cast in that order in layouts and in reports. Big names first. You would also be able to use the Movie Picker as intended, id est find movies with similarities including same top actors. Now, on the contrary, if the cast is listed in alphabetical order or in order of appearance in the end credits, we only profile it that way.

Actually it's less than 2 to 1 now. Of those with a preference 50 say no and 29 say yes

You have your answer, obviously from your tone, you are not happy about it and are coming across like Al Gore. Take 8Ball's advice and give it a rest, you can as I pointed out easily accomplish this locally, and when you upload your collection everyone will get to see what you are doing.<shakes head>

Nope, it's roughly 5 to 3. The majority wins, but it was worth discussing.

I agree, it's a nice idea and something I'm sure a lot of people will try.
But obviously the majority prefer it be kept local, which is fine - that's what these forums are for.

that's because you can't or don't want to read the results correctly

51 say no to changing anything, but 63 are saying no to copying them. In the case of copying it's 63:17.

I'm going to have agree with Skip and 8ball and leave them alone. After all the rules state:

If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits.
If a film has no end credits, but does have actors credited elsewhere, enter the actors from those credits.
We're on a mission from God.

You can upload your collection to Invelos website, you just can't contribute the change.

I'd prefer that the top-billed (whether from the opening or first section of end credits) go first if the main block is arranged either alphabetically or in order of appearance.  It always annoys me that the guy who did the voice of the Ring (which you can barely make out) is the top-billed actor in the LOTR movies according to DVDP.
"This movie has warped my fragile little mind."
